Instead of moving threads to the archive after they've been dormant for 180 days could we also include a minimum number of replies before this happens? Perhaps even a maximum too. I just want to have access to reply on more topics and the vast majority of them seem to reside in the archive which it appears is read only.

Is there anything that can be done to increase the amount of threads that are available to reply back to?

I don't think there is anything to stop you from creating a new thread based on one that is archived. If you want to respond to something specific in that old thread it is possible to link to the statement and copy it across.

Yes, stick around. thumbsup.gif

Aside from very news-led threads, most of the themes are rather cyclical, and come back to the fore often enough. This is on of the main reasons for archiving old threads - there are more active topics covering the same or similar ground.

Ok, that will do. I will give it some time for now. Thanks for your help.

And you do have the option of "reviving" an old thread as Aquilla mentioned. You can either start a whole new thread on a similar subject or you can quote from an archived thread if there's something specific you feel merits further debate. Do just check the guidelines for starting a new thread, though, and make sure it includes clear questions for debate. If you have any questions, feel free to PM any member of the staff.
