Flagging points of interest
Sometimes, when I'm using
, especially if I am at work at the time, I want to make a note of a particular post in a particular thread, with the intention of coming back to it later with a detailed reply. Often, such posts are in fast-moving threads, and we get a lot of those around election times.
It would be really useful if
had the ability to flag posts of interest for each user's personal use. Maybe is might have a turn of phrase you want to refer to elsewhere. Maybe it's a post you particularly want to reply to. And so on. Flagged posts or topics would appear in each user's Personal Profile
and/or My Controls
Is there a way to do this currently? If not, how useful would other users find it, and how technically feasible would it be to develop and implement?Recommending
Every year we have a set of "Year in Review" awards, and every year I find myself struggling to remember what we've talked about more than a few weeks ago!
A feature I've noticed about some other boards - obviously ones that aren't as well-run as
- is that as well as the ability to report
posts that don't live up to standards expected, they have the ability to recommend
posts that are outstanding for good
I wonder if we couldn't somehow mirror the reporting functionality with a "Recommend" button that:
- creates a new post in a "Recommendations" forum so that the user making the recommendation can say waht they like about it (in much the same way as Reports give users space to say what rules they think are being broken).
- Keeps a tally in the thread of how many times each post has been recommended, if at all.
That way the nominations for many of the Year in Review
awards would make themselves
Again, would this be a useful additional feature to the
community? If not, there's no point taking things further. And if so, how technically feasible would it be to develop and implement?
