I don't know what you think but I am in disbelief about the camera showing the beating of a little girl in Indiana. This mother should have someone beat her to a pulp. What I saw on the news is something that makes me sick to my stomach. I am so scared for this child. If the mother beat her like this in public what the Hell has she done at home. This Woman needs to be found and that child be removed from that environment ASAP. I tonight am praying for that little girl. How disgusting!

I'm in complete agreeance with you. Of course, she'll recant some phony sob story about child abuse and/or sexual molestation she received as a child. The whole world will, as Margaret Thatcher has deftly put it, "go wobbly" and let the selfish bitch take a few months in some country club.

But...if Judge John were to preside, the story would unfold as such:

A male prison is shown the tape. Over and over. She is then released in the showers with the men for one hour. That punishment should suffice.
Mike
If they don't put her in maximum security, she's going to have a big problem in the general population.

Women's prisons, as all prisons, are full of non-violent offenders -- crimes such as drug possession and the like.

These non-violent offending women would give anything to see and be with their kids again. And in walks a woman who beat her daughter.

It's like throwing a child molester in jail. They're not going to have it easy.

But there is hope. She said that she would do anything possible for forgiveness. I think she should take the initiative and remove herself from this world.

I watch the woman accused and in fact beat her daughter on camera today on the news. OMG. She dyed her hair. ( I wonder why?) She went to the east Coast. (I wonder Again). Can she be she was running from the law? NO! not according to her. She said she made a mistake and she apologized to her daughter. She Blabberd stuttered and just seemed to me a complicate idiot. Please remove this woman from society and that child and put her in a place where as Mike said a cell where other mothers who were arrested and convicted not of child abuse and cannot see their children. This woman I hope won't last a day befoe someone kicks her butt and then say oh I am sorry I shouldn't have done that to you. Let me know if I am wrong, But I think not. no child should ever have to be put through that. and say it won't happen again. I am sure this is not the first time. And if the child is left in her care it won't be the last time.

You can see this abuse everytime you go to a walmart or to the grocery store. Not to this extreme but in some level or another. I disagree with any form of physical abuse that is done to children (or anyone for that matter). Everytime I see a kid smacked on the *** NOTICE: THIS WORD IS AGAINST THE RULES. FAILURE TO REMOVE IT WILL RESULT IN A STRIKE. ***, attached to a leash, or told to quit or I'll beat you, I feel an obligation to use the same type of teaching on her/him and smacking in the back of the head with my frozen chicken. I grew up just south of Boston and am now in Savannah, Ga and I can say that the abuse is much more apparent here but it all needs to stop...

i think it got way to much coverage, the story was stupid ... ive seen ppl get harsher beatings, ive gotten harsher beatings. hitting your kids is ok, everyone does it ... well except for one person. and her child doesnt listen to the word no, she really doesnt. "now honey dont hit damien" *SMACK* "now what did i say go sit in the corner!" AH HA HAHA NO!

she acts like a scientologist the way she disciplines her kids
Jaime
SD- You have left me totally confused. Could you please clarify your views on this child-beater?
ScreeminDeemin
i think that not all ppl who beat((i could have chose a better word, eh?)) there children are bad ppl. now as far as i saw she looked like she was serouisly hurting her, and it wasnt the first time. but just because it was caught on tape they increased the sentence WAY more than usual. the kid didnt even have any bruises on her

I didn't know the trial was over.

Must have filed a speedy trial request. wink.gif

I heard she was going to plead but I had not heard she was sentenced. Anyone know for sure?

I'll answer my own question. According to The Plain Dealer, a Cleveland newpaper, Madelyn Toogood is, " is free on bond, charged with child abuse." This was reported on October 1, 2002.

So no, she has not yet been charged. There is still hope she'll be put in the general population.

People who beat their children probably are not really bad people, but they are people in need of counseling. They need to attend some parenting classes.

The women we saw hitting her child on tv kept it up for a half minute. I set the micro wave for 30 sec. and banged my hand on the kitchen counter until the timer stopped, as a sort of test. That poor little 4 yr. old got a lot of slaps during those 30 seconds.
ScreeminDeemin
parenting classes and counciling is a better route than jail time which is what they were talking about. i was talking about a discussion i saw on the news, which sounded like they were going to over sentence her because of so much public outrage. i still stand in my place tho, a good slap 'once in awhile' isnt always a bad thing. heh
