Doctors may get new legal powers in war against Sars

In Britain, where there are only 6 known cases of SARS, doctors might get the right to quarantine you.

Everyone is worried about terrorist detainees being mistreated, etc. It can be argued that these people have a potential to spread (and commit) serious harm.

My question: do you see a contrast (or comparison) between the threat posed by SARS and that posed by terrorists?

no, the doctors should have the ability to quarantine and contain this. it is the only way we can have any chance of possibly stopping this.

these people won't be mistreated like terrorists could and might be. they will be released when they have recovered, (only 5% or so actually die) where terrorist detainees will be held until (a)they die (b)the WOT comes to an end (at least 20 years away) or © the detaining government(s) falls. the sars patients aren't likely to be tortured for info on if they spread it or not, "terrorists" are likely to get tortured for info they may not have. (though I have no problem detaining people that actually commit and help commit murder, including government officials and media around the globe.) this is the difference, is that sars patients don't intentionally spread the disease, where trrorist intend to kill.

While it's great to try & be funny in your posts, posts need to have some substance so that we may continue to debate this topic. How is anyone to debate what you just posted? ermm.gif
