I know I need to develop a question here. Are we misjudging the ability of devout Muslim societies to manage their affairs? And in this case could we learn something from them?

Yes. There is always a lesson to be learned, and often more than one.
The first thing that springs to my mind with regards to this matter; is don't judge people. No matter how well you think you know them. They'll always surprise you.

I don't think we need to learn how to have smaller families because it doesn't really matter what size a family is, unless you are in China of course
Anyways, i always knew that some muslim nations can handle their population without breaking any human rights rules & create a decent society. I have never been very prejudice of muslims since 9/11, so i would give them the benefit of the doubt & possibly there may be a FEW things we can learn from their culture because our culture is all about parties, booze & sex and i think that needs to be calmed a little.
