There must be some kind of problem in Africa that is a lot like an "EPIDEMIC" because 23 million people have died of something there in recent years.
This is a problem that will have dramatic global proportions to it if we cannot find the compassion and will to try to deal with it.
Africa AIDS Death Count Oh Eeyore, don't get me wrong, I know that people in Africa are dying, however I want to know WHY they are truly dying. If it is AIDS, then let's help do something about that. If it's not AIDS but rather malaria, tuberculosis, whatever, let's do something about that. Claiming that it's AIDS without accurate measures of testing (and with such extremely loose terms of "diagnosis") is merely placing emphasis on old stereotypes of the "sex-crazed" Africans, IMO. Sounds great when we have a way to "solve" the problem that involves promoting abstinence/safe sex, but is it true? The stats from any AIDS death count are simple inaccurate based upon the manner in which AIDS is diagnosed in Africa.
I am trying to find the statistics I just saw while looking for my above information about AIDS in Europe and condom use/sexual promiscuity in those countries. In comparing the figures, countries with the highest rates of condom use and lowest amount of "sexual promiscuity" had the highest AIDS incidences (France was one of them). The lowest incidences of AIDS were in countries with minimal condom use and high sexual promiscuity. Here I just found the stats on
AIDS in Europe now I just need to find the stats on condom use/sexual promiscuity. Aha!
Durex Global Sex Survey - Unsafe sex &
Durex Global Sex Survey - Contraception. Sure would seem to say that AIDS and sex aren't as closely linked as we may think. Admittedly it might not be the best scientific study

but if we're blaming this "AIDS epidemic" in Africa on promiscuous sex, it might be nice to see some proof of both promiscuity AND HIV/AIDS presence with more than four symptoms that can be attributed to ANYTHING.
