I think we need to pump some serious cash and resources into the region to put the economy and basic services back into working order asap. The iraqi people were poor before the war. How many of us could go weeks without paychecks?
This is a country that needs a dramatic economic start up.
I don't think it is fair calling the attack on our helicopter a heinous crime. It was part of a military campaign to suppress resistance in the area around Hussein's hometown. Resistance would be expected.
Every day of unemployment, no water, no electricity etc. is going to create new enemies in Iraq.
I think the easiest and cheapest way to complete our occupation of Iraq (and at the lowest cost in human life) is to shock and awe the Iraqis with our economic capability.
