Recently I heard a point from a friend of mine. He compared George W. Bush to Adolf Hitler and the 3rd Reich. He Said that in Hitler's time he went against the desicion of the League of Nations (the UN of its time), and one of the main reasons that he started WW2 was because of a personal Vendetta. mad.gif

I myself do believe this to be a bit extreme, But Bush did go against the UN, and he even said himself about Saddam:

FYI - We had this topic going once here arrow.gif People Calling Bush Hitler. That old thread is closed now (just because it got old) and I figure we can revisit the issue here. Although, it should be expected that some of our regular posters may want to just reiterate much of what they said before happy.gif

No comparison. Hitler saved his nation. Bush is destroying ours.

Rumblestrip, please try and be constuctive in your posts. One-liners generally do not add to a debate.

You are kidding, right? Hitler kiled 12 million people, you cannot be serious, and I don't think you are.

No I don't think he is. Bush is a disaster (in my opinion) but he is not evil. I think he is just following what he believes is the best course of action for his country.

Hitler caused the death of 5.5 million Germans. He was one of the most evil men in history. He killed 6 million Jews. He hardly saved Germany. Bush on the other hand uses fairly democratic processes to govern poorly. That isn't evil.

I bow to no one in my disdain and dislike of Dubya, but c'mon folks!

Let's get serious please. Comparing the monumental evil of Hitler to the bungling, incompetence and banality that is George Bush II is simply ridiculous.

Trying to draw a comparison between Hitler and Bush only indicates a lack of understanding history, human nature and the character of either man.

People who use the Hitler/Nazi comparisons are looking for the emotional, knee-jerk reaction that mentioning either of those names brings in most people. It is one that has been used so many times I would hope that no thinking person pays any attention to it.

Well, for those of who you think comparing Bush to Hitler is appropriate, what comparison shall I make for the current crop of Democratic candidates, to all of whom I consider Bush preferable? They must be far worse than a Hitler then ... blink.gif

I agree Rumblestrip.

There are legitimate reasons to dislike and oppose the President, but trying to cast him as an American Fuhrer is just silly.

It only cheapens and coarsens a debate when The Hitler Card is played. wink.gif

I might be willing to discuss a comparison between the administration and the rise of fascism, but not one between Bush and Hitler as men.

You might talk to your friend about that, Trekkie happy.gif

Well, he is rounding up people and branding them as terrorists without a trial. He also can moniter what the average citizen reads.

From a friend: When Hitler did something that normally would be considered wrong by the German public he said it was for the good of the fatherland and if you disagreed you were a traitor. Bush now is using the same tactic except he is saying homeland instead of fatherland.

I have never heard GWB accuse the anti-war crowd of being "traitors". Have a link?

In fact, he stated that dissent is at the heart of democracy.

Don't spread blatant b-s, please.
