Mine are:

1. Get Fuzzy. I LOVE Bucky. This strip has split my sides on numerous occassions, it's just so funny.

2. Pearls Before Swine.

3. Mallard Fillmore. Great political cartoon.

Even though he retired, Gary Lawson's Far Side was by far my favorite.
Amlord
Dilbert (so close to RL corporate America, it's hilarious.)

Wow, we really have different tastes. My wife and I both think Bucky's and Mallard's schtick wore thin after about the third strip, and the latter belongs on the editorial page rather than the comics page anyway. It's just mean-spirited a lot more than it's funny.

But this is about favorite strips, not least favorite. smile.gif As a geek, I have to like Dilbert even though it's not as consistently hilarious as it used to be. Foxtrot and Rose Is Rose have gone the same way, and Rose Is Rose is getting there. I still see lots of original ideas in Zits and Arlo And Janis, and the characters are offbeat (often in a visual way) that I enjoy.

WOW!?

Why take a shot at somebody elses choice in comic strip. I thought this thread was to tell everyone which comic you liked, not criticize others choices.. ermm.gif

Absolute, total agreement.
The most brilliant comic strip of all time.

Since the great Gary Larson has retired that surreal, innovative work of genius, I am forced to look for the many one-panel, quirky comic strips that imitate him. Even though I hate all sports, I like the sports cartoon "In the Bleachers" because it is very similar to "The Far Side."

Other than those, I usually enjoy "Fox Trot," mostly because of the nerdy kid (with whom I can identify.) I also like "Mutts," particularly when the artist does something weird. (Once he did a parody of the Jimi Hendrix album "Axis Bold as Love," as well as the Big Brother and the Holding Company album "Cheap Thrills." He also did a parody of the cover art of the very first issue of Mad, back when it was still a comic book.)

I don't like most of the old-fashioned humorous comic strips, such as "Blondie," or the soap opera comic strips. I find the incredible popularity of "For Better or Worse" inexplicable. It is impossible for me to judge "Mallard Fillmore" objectively, since the artist and I seem to disagree on every possible issue. "Doonesbury" is more in line with my point of view. Trying to be as objective as possible, I think "Doonesbury" is better drawn and better written, although some of the less episodes of "Mallard Fillmore" make me chuckle.

I read every comic strip every day, even the ones I hate. I think I hate "The Family Circus" the worst, along with "Baby Blues." Our newspaper no longer carries "Rug Rats," I am grateful to say.

I don't think it really counts as a comic strip, but I like Ashleigh Brilliant's Pot-Shots. smile.gif

I like Dilbert too.

I also like "Zits". It basically reflects a teenage life

My wife and I love "Jump Start" and "For Better or Worse."

Though my daily newspaper doesn't have the gonads to carry "The Boondocks" I get it every day in my e-mail thru "UComics.com." "Tom Tomorrow" is always on point.

Just started getting "Get Fuzzy" last year but it's great. "Doonesbury" is not aging well though.

"Beetle Bailey," "Hi & Lois" and most of the old school strips are pathetic.

And would somebody please tell whomever runs these syndicated comic strips that Charles Schulz is dead and "Peanuts" hasn't been funny for over ten years?

My favorites are Zits and for Better or worse. The one I really liked tough is no longer printed and that was Calvin and Hobbs. When my son was little we used to call him Calvin cause he did the same things Calvin did. tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

1. The Far Side - hands down, the most consistently hilarious comic of all time in the history of the universe

2. This Modern World - always sharp, always funny, always excellent satire

3. Dilbert - in agreement with amlord, so close to real office life its amazing

I liked Garfield a lot when I was a kid, but I suppose its more targeted to kids as my interest in it has waned over the years. Also, I do like and appreciate Doonesbury an awful lot, however, it just doesn't make me laugh that often. It is good satire, but sometimes I just don't dig it. This might be a generational thing. I could be wrong...

Calvin and Hobbes, Calvin and Hobbes, Calvin and Hobbes

Did I win the prize? biggrin.gif

That's one of my faves too, Moif. I particularly like the snowman sequences.
moif
laugh.gif You did indeed! My favourites are those where Calvin is pontificating at large about his grandeur and Hobbes provides dry comments...

... oh yeah... and Spaceman Spiff! w00t.gif
