Which party do you think will win control of the Senate and by how many seats?

I think the Republicans will regain control of the Senate by 2 seats.

This election I think I'll go ahead and "throw my vote away" and go the with libertarian candidate, Sandy Thomas for State Senator.

Otherwise, my options are Max Clelland or Saxby Chambliss, pretty much the same mind but they claim to be from different parties. Both men are great "party" men but neither really stands up for anything. Sure, if elected Mr. Thomas won't have much support in the Senate - for now, but we need third parties to keep the established parties from getting too comfortable.

I honestly don't want to see the republicans take the Senate. I prefer that no single party have control over the executive and legislative branches. This makes it too easy for them to agree to waste more of my money.

And cdawg - I think you're following scully! tongue.gif Either way, welcome to the forum.

I believe the democrats will retain control by one seat. Maybe more if they decide to replace any other candidates who may be losing. Why not?? The primary system needs to be abolished anyway!!!!!

The Republicans will hold the House; the Democrats will gain real control of the Senate by one, maybe two, additional seats - God willing.

It is never a good thing for one party to control the entire government and the Republicans already have the administrative and judicial branches - and half of the legislature. We can only hope that America does the right thing: more Democratic Senators, hopefully a few more Democratic Representatives (and more Democratic governors). I'd be delighted to see an independent or third party candidate or two in the federal government - a Green or a Libertarian - but that's doubtless too much to hope for.

I have been tempted to vote for a Libertarian at times, but we all know a third party candidate isn't going to win, so what's the use. To make a statement, I suppose.

I'm going to be brave (or stupid) and vote libertarian, at least on the federal level. I agree with Wertz that too much control is not a good thing.

I know by voting libertarian I'm taking a vote away from a republican (my lesser of two evils). With the candidate the republicans put up from Georgia, Saxby Chambliss, that's not much of a loss.

Jaime.

If the Libertarians membership keeps growing, it should send a message to the other parties. They would then be forced to pay attention to them. Right?

So, I'm still wondering. What is the point of voting for an independent, or third party candidate if there is not chance of them being elected?
