How do you find out a partys REAL beliefs so that you can classify your political viewpoint or at least understand what the different kinds are?

I do know that I took a test which was helpful... but does not specifically classify.

If someone wants to take the test these are the coordinates of my dot:
- Economic Left/Right: 1.62
- Authoritarian/Libertarian: -2.26
At one time it was a bit closer to Jean Chretien but Ayn Rand made me a bit more... Objectivist.

Until I am classified I guess I'll just have to party hop! biggrin.gif

Would that have been the Political Compass?

It sounds like it. I've taken their test several times, and always come out at a little over -5.00 on both axes (i.e. strongly left wing and strongly libertarian).

I'm

Economic Left/Right: 2.12
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -2.67

Some of the questions were a little hard to answer precisely, though...

This test wasn't nearly as biased as the Libertarian party's own test.

On the economic left/right.....-6.88
On the authoritarian/libertarian...-7.33

It put me near the lower left corner of the grid.

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -0.50
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -4.82

Apparently I'm a libertarian. Too many of those questions didn't seem relevant

I stayed in the lower left quadrant right beneath Nelson Mandela and Gandhi. That puts me in pretty good company! wink2.gif

Economic Left/Right: -5.12
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -2.56

Would that make me a mainstream Democrat? huh.gif

Is anybody here close to me on the coordinates?

A while back, Izdaari started another thread with a different political test: Where do you live in politiopia?, and Conservpat started one that used the Political Compass test: Help! I'm looking for a political party. You might give those a look. smile.gif

I came out as:

Economic Left/Right: -2.00
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -6.36

There's no party that accurately represents my beliefs, so I've remained independent.

I tested and got 6.66 right/left and 4 authoritarian.

huh.gif I scored Economic Left/Right: -7:38

Authoritarian/Libertarian -5:13

I'm in the company of Nelson Mandela and The Dalai Lama. That doesn't suck.
