I have noticed that there are quite a few people lurking around late at night or posting stuff. I am probably an odd ball that I usually sleep from about 7 a.m. till about 5 p.m. ... this really cuts into any shopping or phone calls etc. that I might want to do. But it's where my body feels most comfortable as far as sleep/wake times.
What time do you go to bed?

This is a very interesting topic. I can't vote, becuae my pattern is all mxied up. Of my three jobs, two are in the day and one is the graveyard shift. Here is my pattern for today, for example.
Got up at 9 am. Ran errands all day. Nap at 6 pm. Up at 8 pm. At work until 8 am. Bed at 9 am. Up at about 5 pm.

Both Curmudgeon and I stay up late, usually until 4 a.m. We both used to work night shift.
It's easier to collect your thoughts and converse in the quiet of the night, especially at the computer.

Night person, without a doubt.
I chose between two and three, but it's often later than that.
I have
never liked waking up in the morning. I could probably sleep past noon every day, even if I went to bed at six pm.
Oddly enough, my favorite meal of the day is breakfast, which is usually eaten in the early afternoon.

my sleep cycle usually wanders on me, unless it is very strict. If i get to much sleep one day i will pay for it, but mostly i would say that i am a night person.
to edit my post i would say my body comes most alive to me around dusk. Thats when i prefer to awake when possible at any rate

I usually wake up around 8:00 am, and I go to sleep between 1:30 and 2:00 am. I wouldn't necessarily say that I'm a night person, because I definitely need sunlight, but I don't require a lot of sleep, and I do enjoy the quiet that the night brings.

Like Cyan, I am fortunate to not require much sleep. A decade of band touring has left me a total night person. I feel most creative after dark. During the school year I have to get up at 6 am, but still I don't usually go to bed before 2.

Ive been asked on the board if Im up early or just late, but I am just late, plus Alaska time, which is so far behind, I usually shut down just as you all are beginning to post in the morn/afternoon? I am a severe night owl, the quiet , you know.

I get up at 4 thirty in the morning everyday, and have for almost five years now. No vacation time, no weekends off. Every ^(*&)(&( day. My kids have sleep problems, and are extremely early risers.
I USED to be a night person. I loved to run at night, about 10-11 was my favorite time to run, and then it took a while for the adrenaline to wind down and let me sleep.

I said after four am, but I sometimes stay awake for 24, 36 and sometimes 48 hours. I'm Bipolar (meaning I switch between high and low energy) sometimes I'll only sleep a few hours whenever I fall asleep, sometimes I sleep 10 to 12 hours, sometimes longer. (I am unemployed at present)

I have always had a sleep problem. Going to college made the issues worse. Then last summer I got to the point where I was sleeping 2 hours in the afternoon everyday and not at all through the night. It just seemed like my body perfered to sleep from 10am through the afternoon or at like 6-8pm. Strange. So I looked into it and I think I might just have a sleep phase disorder where my internal clock runs on a 26 or 28 hour day instead of 24.

Or maybe its just insomnia who knows? In addition to this I had chronic tonsillitis (had my tonsils removed later) which according to the doctor should have had me sleeping almost all day just like mono.

Anyway I began dating a guy who's insomnia got so bad that he was forced to see a sleep specialist. He was on ambien and has just recently started to ween off. These are my reccomendations based on what I have experienced and from his dealings as to what helps better sleep.
* get morning light, ie: go for a walk in the morning first thing when you getup
* exercise during the day so that you will have expended energy and might actually be tired and ready for bed by 1
* keep your wakeup times relatively consistant ie: wake up at 9am or 10am everyday
* if you feel a few hours behind sometimes melatonin is beneficial to kick you forward and put you on schedule.
I'm currently sleeping 5-9 hrs a night which is a drastic improvement.

I am an night owl. If I didn't have to get up at 6:00 A.M.
6 days a week, I'd easily stay up until 2:00 or 3:00 A.M.
When you have kids, the late-night hours are a good time to
get things done, too (without interuption).

Almost 1 to 1:30 AM bed time for me every evening, and up at 6 am almost every morning, if I could get away with less sleep I would

I usually go to bed around 11:30PM. Most mornings I wake up at 6:30AM or 7AM. Since I need a lot of sleep but can't take it during the week, I usually catch up on Sundays when I've been known to sleep until 1PM.

I used to be strictly a night owl. It started when I was singing in clubs and it never really went away, even after I got a "normal" daytime job. Even then, I was only sleeping about 3-4 hours a day, total.
Since my heart surgery though, I seem to need a lot more sleep. Instead of getting to bed at 2 or 3am, and getting up at 6am, I'm now totally wiped out by 10 or 10:30pm, and sleep straight through the night.
