My "day job" takes up 40 to 50 hours per week (note I did not say I
worked 40-50 hours) - plus I do another 10 to 30 hours of free lance stuff (probably about 15 on average).
When I was working in television, I routinely worked 60-80 hour weeks (for eight years). At the end of it, though, I got paid for an additional seven months (time off in lieu) after leaving the job.
That was pretty sweet while it lasted.
Prior to that, when my partner and I were running a theatre company, it would be up to an 80- or even 100-hour week when we were in production - and down to about 16-hour weeks when we weren't.
Looks like the older I get, the shorter my week. At this rate, by the time I'm eighty or so, I'll be down to about a 20-hour week. Excellent!
