Although I don't understand the ebb and flow of the guest list (Google Spider has something to do with this?)

We just had a peak moment of traffic to the debate. Yea US AD!

Yes, Eeyore, about 95% of the guests at the moment are google spiders.

So remember - everything you post here has a HIGH likihood of being googled. If you haven't found a reason to spell properly, use good grammar, use proper capitalization and punctuation, and make informative, constructive posts - this might be a good one.

The more google comes here, the more exposure we all get. Your words are being recorded and stored - possibly for a VERY long time. It's up to you how you will be remembered wink2.gif

Yes but won't strategically placed mispellings (tee hee) show up more easily because mispelled w00t.gif words will match mispelled crying.gif searches?

Yes, but are those the kinds of guests we want? w00t.gif whistling.gif

I think the amount of traffic is terrific (even if this place is getting a bit crowded). biggrin.gif You may have noticed Eeyore, that a new attendance record has been set even since you started this thread! If this keeps up, we're going to have to build an extension.

And never mind searches and posterity, Jaime, the inability to spell properly, use good grammar, use proper capitalization and punctuation, and make informative, constructive posts doesn't do much for one's credibility as a participant in any debate. And if one isn't posting to be taken seriously, why is one posting at all? wacko.gif The fact that our posts become part of the global search system and are being immortalized in the ether are not negligible, by any means - but, if one is participating intelligibly and cogently, one shouldn't have to worry about those considerations. wink2.gif

With the upgrade we should be able to assign usernames to the various spiders that visit the site.

When you look at the userlist, it will say "Googlebot" instead of "Guest".

We have a good relationship with Google: We never show them the same page twice, and they visit several times every day to make sure we hold up our end of the deal. Sure, it's not written down anywhere, but that's the way it's been since December!

Thanks, everyone, for participating and helping us continue to break records. Just wait for the 2004 election... unsure.gif
