I find this funny and yet I am mad. We were given a recycle bin when we moved in a yr ago April. Free of charge. If you need more than one I believe it is either 7 or 9 dollars. Well we never fiil up this thing so the one was just fine. When we got it a yr ago they actually paint your address on it. Well we put out the garbage last night bin included. I was at work tonight and my daughter called. Said someone stole our recycle bin. I am mad at the fact that WHY? I thinks it is fuuny that someone is so pathetic they had to take mine. So now I have to call the Village tomorrow to get another one. That part I have no problem with. But we have a very small Newspaper put out by the High School here. They report everything. I can't wait to see this. Someone stole recycle bin at address, day etc. Like I have nothing better to do. No debate here. Just venting. Thanks for letting me do that wacko.gif wacko.gif wacko.gif

If it's not nailed down, it stands to get stolen. I've discovered this.

Last year at my office, I had my coffee mug stolen. The mug had the logo of my college on it. It is a small technical school, somewhere no one else in that building would have gone to.

Besides that, who would want to steal someone else's coffee mug.....eeeewww

sorry 'bout your bin. biggrin.gif

Momof3,
When I first read your post, I thought you meant the "Recycle Bin" in your computer! Whew! whistling.gif
Sounds like a lame prankster or someone who is truly desperate (at least upstairs).

Momof3,

Maybe its some really poor hippie types who think that recycling is really important, but theft is not! laugh.gif

But you might not know what really happened yet..

Once here in Alaska some neighbors were complaining someone stole their childrens swingset. They couldnt believe anyone would do this but it was just gone. Later, someone caught site of a moose, busily chomping bushes, dragging a swing set around its neck.

I guess a moose did not take your bin. crying.gif

That type of petty theft can be very irritating. I've had a few recycle bins stolen over a period of about twenty years. When they were first issued, they were being stolen so fast that the newspaper and television both ran stories to tell people that if they were patient, they would be issued one. When we moved to this house, there was not one waiting for us. The trash company told us that it is very common for people moving out of town to steal them and use them for packing,

When I was perhaps 22 years old. I woke up late one morning, dressed hurriedly, got on my bicycle and started off to work. Being in a hurry, I was leaning forward on the handlebars and pumping fast for most of the distance. I was probably 3/4 of the way there when I hit a red light, stopped, sat down... and discovered the painful fact that someone had stolen my bicycle seat during the night.

first off, how many college aged kids live in the neighborhood? second are there BARS near there? third, how far to the local LQ? (lq is liquor store BTW)

my guess is that it was some drunk kids that saw it and were like "'ool, a reshycle binb. let's chake id" (drunk talk for "cool, a recycle bin. let's take it")

As did I and was quite confused when I just saw the post title! wacko.gif w00t.gif

I certainly was giggling inside after I read the actual story - hehe, we're living in a computer-dominated world, what can I say!

Sorry for the theft of your recycle bin though. That stinks, but it is rather funny at the same time.
