[FONT=Arial][SIZE=7]

I am very happy to have found this discussion group, however it is of little use if the screen text can't be easily read.

The screen font being used is TOO SMALL -- to the extent that I have to switch to a lower screen resolution (800 x 600) just to make it out. Yes, I have excellent eyesight and I am using an Apple 17" flat-screen display.

Perhaps a little re-engineering of the website font would be a good idea. rolleyes.gif

Thanks.

Am I the only one who has to zig-zag back & forth to read posts?

I type in short lines to prevent my post from going off the screen.

I agree. Bumping up the font size by a point or two would make things easier to read.
Mike
I've always thought the font size was too small, also.

The larger font size is coming with the new update of the board, which should be in beta testing in a week or two, and released by the end of the year.

But, I offer a temporary solution:

Step 1: Click this link.

Step 2: Select Patriotic Skin (Larger Fonts) from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: Click Change my Account Options.

That's it!

The base font for that skin has been increased by 1 point or one pixel, depending on how it was set up.

If it is still too small, feel free to let me know and I'll be happy to work with you until we get it to a good size.

Madtown, that's a unique problem, I think.

Are you running Internet Explorer, or Netscape? Which version?

I'll do some research and get back to you.

Mike,

I followed your instructions and increased the font to the largest size. That is a 2000% improvement.

Thanks very much.

Bob,

No problem at all.

If you need it to be any larger, just drop me a note.

Madtown, is that text-going-on-for-ever problem worked out?

Works well, thanks Mike. (puts magnifying glass back into drawer)

I'm still zig-zagging away Mike. I don't want you to spend a lot of time on the problem
though. Thanks, MT
Mike
Madtown!

I think I have it fixed...

Is it still going on off the screen?

No more zig-zagging. I can't believe it. Are you a genius or what?

Now, if you could tell me how to use the PM, I will not bother you

for a long long time. Thanks!

Madtown -

Still no more zig-zagging, right?

Just have to check.

As soon as I made that change, for some reason some of the font colors changed, so I just got that fixed! What a pain.

BUT...

I will throw together a little tutorial for you on the private messages right now...

How to use the private messager

Receiving Private Messages

This is fairly obvious if you do not have anti-popup software installed. When someone sends you a private message, a box will popup on your screen:

user posted image

From here, you'll click "Take me to my inbox". You will then be presented with a screen that shows all of the messages in your inbox. Click on the message title, and you will be taken to the message.

To reply to a PM, hit the Reply PM button while viewing the message. You will be taken to a screen that works just like when you're posting.

Going Straight to Your Inbox

To go directly to your inbox at any time click "# New Messages" as shown below:

Sending a New PM

There's a couple of ways to do this.

#1 - If you see the person who you want to PM's name anywhere on the screen, click it and you will be taken to their profile.

Once at their profile, look on the right side under "Communicate". Click the link next to "Private Message" as shown below:

You will then be taken to a screen similar to a regular posting screen. Enter a title, type your message, and send it away!

#2 - If you don't see the person who you want to PM's name anywhere on the screen, do this:

Click "Your Control Panel" up next to the "# New Messages" (see above image).

Then, Click "Send New PM":

It will then take you to a new PM screen. Input the member's name, a title, your message, and send it away.

This is a very basic two-in-the-morning tutorial.

If you have any more questions at all, just PM ME!! tongue.gif tongue.gif
