I am starting this thread after participating in and reading this thread.

Most of us live in a wooden structure. We write on wood-derived paper.

Since we're all taught (I presume) that lumber is a renewable resource, I wonder why people are against logging.

Who cares if we chop down a bunch of trees for our use? After all, they will eventually grow back.

It may be of interest to you that Western Australia is one of the few countries in the World to consistantly use a hardwood for buildings
namely Jarrah.
Fortunately it is beginning to phase out in favour of plantation pine which can be renewed at 10 times the rate of growth of Jarrah.

Another consideration is de-toxified hemp which is being trialled in South Oz.
Unlike wood fibre, that can only be recycled two or three times, hemp can be recycled many times without loss of structure.
It is an annual crop.
Used for paper making and a cloth.
