I need to vent so I guess this would be the place. I had a problem with my car that when I applied the brakes and then started to accerlerate the brake light would come on. It would come on at first for a few seconds, but progressed to the point where it remained on for about a block. So I brought the car in. I dropped it off on Tuesday night since I didn't have to work Wed. thinking they had all day Wed. to work on it. I got a call saying it needed Front brakes. Ok. Fix it. They called me later saying my front tires were good (which I just bought) but my back should be replaced soon. Some belt needed to be replaced. I said fix the brake light problem and the belt. Then I got a call saying the pump to the power steering was leaking and it was covered under the warranty. Ok so far fix it. Then I get a call saying they didn't have the pump for the power steering. Do I need the car Thursday? I said yes. They said ok we will order the part and bring it in again when they got it. Well I found out about 10 mins later my daughter was off work Thursday so she could take me to work. So I called back and said you can have the car all day Thurs too. I got home at 4 and called them. He said it wouldn't be done till about 8. I thought at this point why? But thought ok. I called at 8. Is my car ready? No he is having a problem with installing the pump and putting the new belt on. It will be ready at 10. At that time I blew up. I said what the Hell is going on here. I worked all day and sure as hell didn't feel like going out at 10 at night to pick up the friggin car. He is saying I am sorry but we want to make sure you don't have to come back. So at 10 I call. I said is this car ready? It will take me about 30 mins to get there. He said he is just finishing now it should be ready when you get here. So I get there. It wasn't done till 11. So he says he is sorry and gave me 2 cards to have my oil changed and oil filter free. I took the cards but looked at him and said you know what? I will never take my car here for an oil change it would probably take a week and I NEED my car. mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif Thanks for letting me vent. Would love to hear other people who HATE CAR DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE

This was a horrible experience you had indeed! ohmy.gif

I have never had any experience that bad, and I think most car dealerships do pretty well. Are they ripping me off? I don't know, because I know nothing at all about cars, but I suspect not, most of the time.

One experience I had was with a Nissan Sentra. I had one that would just stop accellerating when I stepped on the gas. They figure out it's the fuel pump, after a lot of testing, and fix it. Fine. Later I own another Nissan Sentra and I have the exact same symptoms. I tell them it's the fuel pump. They don't listen to me. (After all, it's obvious I know nothing about cars.) To make a long story short, after fooling around with other things that don't work, they figure out it's the fuel pump.

But most of the time things work out OK. I take my car in every 3000 miles for the oil change (I know I don't have to do it that often with new technology, but I do it anyway) and all other schedule maintenance. So far the vehicle has done well. (It's a Hyundai Sonata.)
