As a Frenchman, I was quite furious aftrer reading some of the comments made against my people and country in the old news section.

I can understand that some Americans didn't like our political choice about Iraq and they felt abandoned or even betrayed. What I don't understand are the insults and stupid comments that came along with some of their opinions. I have noticed that some members took our defence and I wholeheartily thank them for that.

Is the hatred against French people justified?

This was certainly not justified at all, and I was quite ashamed that some American politicians, who are supposed to be mature, thoughtful people, would stoop to this level of childishness. (The infamous "Freedom Fries" incident was the nadir.)

No matter how much one might disagree with a particular policy decision by a particular French government, there should be no reason to forget that France and the United States have been allies for well over a century.

On behalf of the United States, I apologize.

CLOSED.

We don't need ANOTHER 'hating France' thread. After nearly 40 pages of posts here and here - I don't know if anyone has anything new to add that would lend to a constructive debate.

Please come up with a more specific question and we will consider it.
