Retired general Wesley clark announces his candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination today.
Clark is articulate, precise, confident and clearly knowledgeable, all traits that the nine announced Democratic candidates have not really exhibited up to this point, with the exception of Bob Graham, who is nowhere near the front of the pack.
He has considerable grass-roots commitment in both supporters and donations.
The upcoming presidential campaign will focus on who is best qualified to lead the country while it is involved in armed conflict with known and unknown enemies. Clark was a decorated company commander in Viet Nam, commander of the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, and US troop commander, Under NATO, in Kosovo. Only Kerry has anything close to comparable military experience.
So, the questions:
1. Can Clark overtake the rest of the candidates in this race, and become the Democratic Nominee.
2. Would Clark be able to knock off Bush, politically speaking?
3. Personal politics notwithstanding, do you think that Clark would make a good president? Why or why not?
