With all the hoopla Democrats are trying to generate for this debate is anyone going to actually watch it? Its going up against Friends, Yankees/Redsox, and whatever the other networks have on. I know the die hard democrats will still watch. But will anyone else?

I'll be watching . . .The vast bulk of people who vote in a primary are die-hard party loyalist/activist types. I wouldn't expect viewership to far exceed active party loyalists and political junkies even if it was up against video of pudding curdling. Baseball fans will probably be able to catch it on rerun. Isn't this casual conversation?

I love the history of sex series. I'm not a pervert, it's just a really neat insight into different cultures.

I also love Histories Mysteries and Mail Call. The sergeant on that show makes me laugh!

Seriously, Lowe is pitching for Boston in Yankee stadium. If the Sox win tongiht, they have a good chance at getting up on the Yankees 3-0.
That being said, go Cubs! (I dont like the AL. The DH rule is weak.)

I watched the last Democrat 9 Debate for laughs and i got that and i also got the impression that it was just a Bush bash fest. If i want to hear Bush bashing, i'll go to the Berkley Campuses

Curmudgeon and I will be watching the debate. We just hope it doesn't get interrupted by the Kobe Bryant preliminary hearing as Wolf Blitzer promised CNN would do throughout the evening.

I'll be watching my favorite television program
Frontline on PBS as it's season premiere is tonight at 9:00 pm.
FRONTLINE traces the roots of the Iraqi war back to the days immediately following September 11, when Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld ordered the creation of a special intelligence operation to quietly begin looking for evidence that would justify the war. The intelligence reports soon became a part of a continuing struggle between civilians in the Pentagon on one side and the CIA, State Department, and uniformed military on the other-a struggle that would lead to inadequate planning for the aftermath of the war, continuing violence, and mounting political problems for the president.Which I expect to be far more important and informative that watching nine knuckleheads dis each other and try to determine which one of them is the tallest midget.

I'll watch to see if any of them can actually give concrete proposals to issues rather than Bush-Bash. That is a complete turn off and real boring.

I'll watch at least the first hour. after that I may change it to
SMACKDOWN.(yes, I watch wrestling) I wonder how much they will ignore kucinich this time. last time they seemed to not even realize he was there.

Should we make predictions on who the 'winner' will be? Did anyone see the last one? If so did you notice that goofy smile on Kerry's face? I think it was there because Jon Stewart from the Daily Show had recently commented on the fact that the man never smiles. After seeing him with that big grin pasted on his face I think I prefer his 'serious' look.
BTW, I think Clark will win.

I also think they will all be a lot harder on him than they were last time.

I know he can't win and I really don't think he should...BUT...I am glad Sharpton is in these debates. I think he's been good for them because he tells it like it is. I had a bad impression of him before the debates as being somewhat off the wall. To me he pretty much says it like it is and I'm glad he's there just for level he's raised the debates to.

America's Debate needs to host a Democratic debate just to get these candidates to be on topic and constructive in their responses.
It hasn't been all bad, but I find myself feeling very frustrated, because I don't think they use their time effectively. They make a lot of promises, but they don't explain how they plan to implement these promises. It's probably a shortcoming of the medium that they are using, and I'm probably being too critical, but I honestly don't find myself getting much out of these debates.

Umm... the topic was directly related to the 2004 election. Not that I care what forum it's in really. Those wacky mods, fool me every time

.
I ended up flipping over between pitches during the Yanks wonderful trouncing of the Sox. Too bad GWB isn't from Boston, if so Steinbrenner would fund the entire DNC until he lost.
With all the effort spent attacking Clark I honestly think he came out looking pretty good comparatively. I take Clark over Dean in 7 with Rivera coming in for some key late inning relief.

I missed the first 40 minutes but I agree with you Cyan. I would prefer if they cut it down to less than five...Dean, Clark, Kerry, and maybe one other...I like Braun, Sharpton, and Kucinich but they aren't going to to win...don't even get me started about Leiberman. But it's not the debates that are bad...it's the lack of time. These debates say more in ten minutes than I've heard from a years worth of Bush speeches.

It would be nice if the moderators would actually enforce the time rules with these guys. Dennis Kucinich was short-changed for time. Gephardt and Kerry were hogging time. It was evident that everyone was chomping at the bit, especially when members of the audience contributed questions.
Carol Moseley-Braun impresses me. I like Kucinich, too. They are both plain speakers. Rev. Sharpton, who is quite controversial, was a welcome addition to the debate, adding humor and some important points. As it is, except for Senator Lieberman, I would vote for any one of them in preference to our current leader.
Time will tell.

It's been very difficult to find out when, and on what channels these debates have been scheduled. Today we happened to hear on CNN that they were carrying them today, so we watched! PE was grabbing my pen and writing down such things as:
"If you want to live like a Republican, you have to vote for the Democrats!"
She thought that was a new quotation. I told her I am reasonably certain it has been used before. Can anyone help me by telling me if they've heard it before?
At any rate, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

I believe it was Harry S Truman who said "If you want to live like a Republican, you'd better vote like a Democrat" - at least that's the phrasing and attribution I've heard for years.

I didn't watch it because I was having too much fun playing Star Wars Galaxies, but I would have otherwise, if only because I'm a political junkie. There is next to zero chance I'd vote for any of them, since the Democratic Party's current beliefs and mine are about as close to opposite as possible, but I still would have watched it.
