Curious to everyone's thoughts on Bush's newly stated policy with Cuba.

Here is a recent article.....Bush Seeks Tighter Curb on Cuba Travel

Why are Americans being punished for this? And when will we ever admit it is failing. What happened to our govt's faith in the power of democracy and open free markets?

Also Bush's belief that we should allow and encourage more Cubans to emigrate...how exactly is that meant to free Cuba?

Cuba is a popular holiday destination for Canadians and Europeans...Bush's belief that a heavier enforced travel ban is going to "starve" Castro's finances is in my opinion is waaaaaay off...and in fact I feel it makes the US appear to be less open and wanting of change.

Then there is the whole domestic politics of this issue too.
