maybe it's me but does AD seem a bit sluggish? Not technically but mental stimulatingly (if that's a word huh.gif )?

Like every other living thing, AD has a biorhythm.

Things go slow, then they go fast.

The news cycle is pretty slow right now, and AD is intimately tied to that.

If you think things are slow, you should ask yourself : "What issues do I care about? What question would I like answered by my peers?"
SoCaliente_1
yes amlord you're right. just a cycle I suppose.

I have actually put up some threads I thought would be interesting and that might lead to a flurry of controversy in the back in forth. perhaps they were not as interesting as I thought. ermm.gif

Being a new member, I find that alot of debatable topics have been discussed before I had joined AD. (They should have done some advertising sad.gif ) So I find it hard to start a new topic, because it will be a duplicate and will be closed, and bring up old topics, because that requires reading 1-10 pages of posts, which probably cover all the points on a particular subject.

Good point Rev,

I'm new too, and found exactly the same thing.

It is often intimidating to jump into a 20+ page thread. On one hand, you feel like you have something to contribute, but on the other hand you feel obligated to read all previous posts to avoid being redundant.

Seems like there is some merit in "starting fresh" at some point, although I completely understand the desire to limit duplicate topics.

Regarding the "sluggishness", I find the opposite. I am constantly feeling like there's not enough time to weigh in on so many topics and read the many quality discussions that are going on.

If what I've seen in the past 2 weeks is sluggish, I'd hate (or love) to see what lively looks like around here! unsure.gif

There is actually a bit of humor in this topic...

I love closing long threads (12+ pages). You wouldn't believe some of the complaints I get when I do that, though.

I'm tough and can take it - feel free to PM me or any staff member anytime you think a thread ought to be closed so a new one can be started. We'd be happy to oblige you. Then we usually ask a week or two pass before anyone starts a similar debate so we all have time to refocus our thoughts and not merely rehash what was posted before.

As far as sluggishness goes, I've got nothing. It's been more busy around here than it's ever been. biggrin.gif

Odd how perceptions differ. I was just thinking how quickly the threads I like were moving today. wacko.gif
SoCaliente_1
it's just me then. wacko.gif lol

I find that if I've responded once or twice in the same thread to a particular post that perked my interest, I'm finished with that thread as I would not want to seem redundant.

I suppose it has to do with what one is interested in. There really is no lack of topics fo sho. zipped.gif

*thinking out loud*
