I honestly can't remember, but it was in my bookmarks so it must have been a site I stumbled over and wanted to come back to later.

American Forum was hacked and closed - I had a member refer me to this forum. I've also noticed several other members from AF log on, but I've also noted that they are not posting.

I used Google. I typed in "drudge report" and found your thread on it.
Oddly enough, my lacrosse forum had a politics section set up for the election, but they took it down...

I did a Google search using "Abortion Debate" or "Abortion Discussion" or similar words.
I had been participating in an abortion debate forum until the site proved to be so technically unsound as to be unusable. Before that I had been posting at another debate site that also experienced overwhelming technical problems.

America's Debate?
Heck if I can remember! All I know is I was searching for adult (I bet you thought I was gonna say something else) political discussion.
I'm thinking that maybe a friend referred me, but don't hold me to that.

It's a bit roundabout, so perhaps not that compelling, but here goes: my brother told me a while back that Trader Joe's is owned by Asda. Then, via a Wal-Mart discussion on another forum, I had just found out that Wal-Mart owns Asda. So, fearing for the future of my beloved TJ's, I ran some Google searches. A search on
trader joe's bought by asda turned up
an archived Wal-Mart discussion from America's Debate. I was intrigued and impressed with the discussion and followed it back. I surfed the forum for a few days, and decided to join up today.

Oh, and just to clarify - it's
Aldi that owns TJ's, not Asda. Still, muddling those two names led me here so...there's a bright side.

I was getting tired of my other political boards because they were small and not very diverse in the discussions(same sex marriage was all anyone seemed to care to talk about). So I googled "America politics issues power board". The power board ending came from the fact that I love this format for a discussion board. After checking a few other sites that were either too liberal or too conservative, I found this. I really enjoy it here.

I had saw a banner on Google's right-side advertisments and I clicked and poked around the boards. Then I said to myself, "What a perfectly wonderful place to rant about how Republicans are destroying our country". Then I registered.
All jokes aside, it's the first site I've seen with civilized, researched debate. So, I couldn't help myself.

I found it on google when I looked up "Democrat Debate Forum". I had been on another forum, but I was kind of sick of a debating this anarchist all the time, and I felt I learned a bit more when I debated people who are more similar to me.
When I can actually get a back and forth debate going here (which has only happened once thus far), I tend to learn a bit more then I did at my old forum.

A member of this forum told me about it on another forum. He was new to the forum I was on, (not that I am a hack at that one, only 9 months now) and we were similar in political persuasion. I noted some of the background in a PM to him on ie the name calling and personal insults by the rightys to me explaining they were intellectually challenged, and upset that I would come to a conservative site. They have been trying to get me kicked out of that forum for a long time, but I do not name call or personally insult even though they do. Actually though they still daily call me names I think they have accepted that I am not going to get kicked out.
He recommended coming here because there are those who disagree that do not get into personal name calling insults and such. That there are far more intellectuals here. He continues to post on the other site also.

I came across America's Debate on
Google, using the phrase
Civil Debate.
From what I've seen so far, I think I will be here quite often.
With so much acrimony, hate, partisanship and venom on other boards, I was hoping that someone else felt the same way I did.
I want to be able to discuss an issue or engage in a debate "civilly".
Thanks to those who created this site.
Peace.
