I happened to be searching, using Web Ferret, for a particular article and typed in America's.
Your site was one of many.
Curiosity led me to open the site and I found it was well managed so I joined and posted.
The rest is history.

I voted "google ad" in your poll, but then as I clicked the button, I realized it wasn't entirely accurate. I found your site by searching on google. The search phrase I used was "interesting political debate."

I found my way to "America's Debate" through the AOL/Google search engine. I had just recently finished reading some works by Gore Vidal and a columnist, Steven Levendosky. Finding myself interested in foreign policies and various agendas of certain people in our government, I did a search, I believe, for "American imperialism." The link it provided me took me to the topic "Is American Empire Building?" (started by Alan Wood) and having read interesting assessments I wanted to provide my own views. Since the rest of the site was equally intriguing... well, here I am!

OK, looks like I get the prize for weirdest/geekiest way of finding the site. I was looking for a new host for my own website, and America's Debate was listed as a showcase customer site at Burton Hosting. I did choose Burton, so I guess you could say I'm a neighbor.

I am a veteran/warrior from Arianna Online originally. I actually stumbled upon this forum shortly after it was founded as I was looking for a safe haven for a band of disgruntled Arianna posters. I book marked the site and continued my travels. My weary friends in the meantime and started two forums and I have been posting at those sites for several months now. My friend and ex-Arianna resident , Wertz also had located this site and was quite satisfied. I recently dusted off that bookmark and decided to take a road trip! I am here to visit my friend Wertz in his new digs!!! This has evolved into quite a class act. The guidelines and rules are a bit daunting at first, especially after matriculating in past less administrated situations. Looking forward to checking things out.

You have bumper stickers?
I began using the company "Intranet" at work, before the Internet existed. I was accustomed to using the computer for E-mail, research, record keeping, etc.
I am misanthropic by nature. It's a bit after 4:00 am as I write this. This is a far more typical time for me to be awake than 10:00 am. I can relax and know that if the phone rings in the middle of the night, it's merely an emergency and not a creditor or salesman.
For years, I was able to use our home computer to write, keep books, or play the occasional game of Solitaire or minesweeper. Then my brother-in-law purchased a PC, and introduced my wife to a role playing game. In order to have a computer to use when she is home, I had to purchase a second computer.
I'm not certain how my wife found this site, but it has given her an outlet to have a conversation with someone other than our daughter and me, and she kept saying to me, "Listen to this." or "You've got to read this."
Eventually I had to try to reply. (Yes AuthorMusician, we did have advance notice that Japan planned to bomb Pearl Harbor. My next door neighbor told the President, after the emperor told him. I tried to reply, but that thread was closed.)
Now, I find that if I am going to be able to use my computer again on a regular basis, I am going to have to solve the problem of "How do I network the two computers together so that we both have access to the DSL line?"

Welcome, Curmudgeon!

A cable/DSL router, like the
Linksys BEFSR-41 (probably the most popular model, and which I use), a couple of lengths of CAT5 (or better) ethernet cable, and a 10/100 ethernet adapter for each computer (if you don't already have them) will do the trick.

I used to post at nonviolence.org, but the people there weren't, well, the best debaters. They pretty much said "haha, I'm right because I say so." Due to this little "situation," I looked for another site and came up w/ this, and am quite satisfied.

I was on a vision quest in the Amazonian jungle. I had gone without food for days; I took occasional sips from my canteen. I was starting to feel light-headed. I was trying to "find myself." Instead I eventually collapsed. I was found face down on a fire ant mound by the secretive (and diminutive) Iklaangi people, who took me in, nursed me back to health, and eventually adopted me into their tribe.
Two years later, I could hardly remember English any more. One day as I wandered, looking for some delicious tubers, I heard a strange sound. I followed my ears, and soon I came to a waterfall. The sound seemed to be coming from inside the waterfall! I stepped through the curtain of water and found a tunnel. I followed its serpentine path for about 500 yards. It opened into a paradisical valley. There were fountains of whiskey! There was a wicked cool water slide! And best of all, a huge party was going on! Mike and Jaime were the hosts. Mike introduced himself, then gave me a very strange look. I was reminded of my time spent in the deserts of Mexico with the nagual, Don Juan.
Mike said, "You are Quarkhead. Shuck off your false identity and join us. We are Amazon's Debate, a tribe of happy, intelligent people!"
So I joined. Eventually, the jungle was clear cut, and we had to relocate to America.
Or maybe I just googled my way here, I don't really remember...

My first forums site was origionally a gaming site, in which had a couple topics about politics in the US and the war on terrorism and iraq...
I am a big political person, and I was making alot of political topics, but I kept getting slammed because of it... the game site mostly being a Europian community, thereby didn;'t share same views, and was mostly ppl who didn't like America.
I felt underapreciated for my work and things, I used yahoo search engine to find this site, typed in "politics forums America", and I came acrossed this site.
I'm already enjoying it here, i intend to stay
