C-SPAN archives the video from the "Questions to the Prime Minister" on their website. Near as I can tell, and perhaps one of my friends here from the UK can correct me if I am wrong, once a week the PM visits the House of Commons for a 30 minute session of Q&A. And I gotta tell those of you who haven's seen one of these sessions, you are really missing out! This is the best TV the Brits have done since Monty Python! Talk about your free-wheeling debates! They boo and hiss and cheer and jeer and laugh, it's really quite something to see. Beats the heck out of our staid speeches on the House and Senate floor. I haven't watched one of those since the days of before Traficant was 'beamed up' to jail!

To see them go to the link above and do a search on their video archives for "Questions". It's a real hoot! w00t.gif

I LOVE the questions with the Prime Minister. I have always thought we ought to have a similar system in place here in the States.

I do want to qualify my poll response, however. I was felt I had to vote "I have seen them time to time" because I don't have cable anymore and until a few minutes ago, I had thought that was the only way to see them. When we used to have cable we would watch them every Sunday night.

Thanks for the C-SPAN video link, Aquilla smile.gif

Have you ever seen Ariel Sharon holding a speech to his party? Thats even funnier, seriously! the whole room is filled with guys in shirts yelling at each other, jostling and being escorted out by security, chanting at Sharon, even throwing chairs about!

I used to watch the British parliament when I lived in England, but otherwise I just get it on BBC radio 4

..the whole room is filled with guys in shirts...

Is it customary for politicians in Denmark to attend speeches without shirts??? blink.gif laugh.gif

Sorry, couldn't resist that one, flowers.gif

I've never seen it but will try to in the future. what I have seen are snippets of these meetings on the news and from what I can see and the way they carry on (which is often times too funny) no WONDER poor Tony has an irregular heartbeat! Talk about intense... they're almost like verbal street brawls! Gaaaad!

It's wonderful to watch Blair in the House of Commons. It's like a big noisy family fight. When they agree it's "hear, hear!" I suppose we would say "Right on!" or something; what do we say when we agree? huh.gif rolleyes.gif

It takes guts, knowledge, the ability to think on your feet and a voice that will hold up to respond to that group and give back as good as you get. The Brits have my admiration. I wonder how many of our lawmakers could do the same thing.

We bark. You know - ala the old Arsenio Hall show? rolleyes.gif

Woowoowoowoo

Maybe this would be a bad idea for the US. unsure.gif

My favorite part is when the Speaker stands up in the middle of things and sternly admonishes everyone to maintain the dignity of the proceedings and uphold the decorum and the entire chamber bursts into laughter. He shrugs his shoulders, smiles and sits down and away they go again. LOL!!! Hilarious stuff! biggrin.gif

C-Span is one of my favorites and I did enjoy the Questions to the Prime Minister. We have cable, but no longer get C-Span...thanks for the link! I agree we should lighten up a bit.

Now Japan's Congress is another story in itself...they end up in mauling/fist fights over differences of opinions and final voting results. It is a riot! Did you see their most recent televised session when the final vote resulted in sending troops to Iraq? They almost killed one another!

Yes of course... but in Denmark we also wear our trousers... w00t.gif

I watch British Parliament on Sunday nights. It's one of my favorite programs. The members are so nice nasty when asking their questions and the heckles and cheers are rather entertaining.
