do chat rooms provide us with anything for the good of talking to someone you have no clue if they are telling the truth or not? and tell me what you think about chat rooms and maybe getting the chance to meet this cyber person which may be your friend or possibly more.

I tend to shy away from chat rooms, but I think the same curiosity can be extended to forums as well. This nice thing about this site, is that the majority of us are actually who we say we are (in my best estimation).

The one thing I'd warn you about are "flamers." These are people who go into chat rooms and forums and say things merely to incite others. Most of these "flamers" do not even believe what they say; they simply say things to get people mad.

We've only had one or two of those types to come in here, but they are easily found out and restricted or banned. That is the most I can offer you in the way of warnings.

I think Momof3 (another member here) has gone into some chat rooms and had some good experiences, even made some friends. I'll ask her to chime in.

I have been in a few chat rooms but I find them confusing. you have so many people talking at the same time it is hard to get to know anyone. When I had Aol you could look up people and get their profile. I have met many people that way and have even met some of them in person. But, you really have to be careful. I didn't meet some of these people till I was abosolutley sure of them and when I did it was in a very public place. Do not tell them where you live, phone number, or where you work till you have met them in person. I have met several and have many new friends. I say go for it but keep in mind do be careful.

both of you bring up some good issues and yes i have done this chat room thingy myself. i hate it when people are just there insulting others and are doing nothing for anybody but putting them down. i have had some good results as like going out with the person for awhile and getting to know them better, but if you have a bad experience you hope not to see those people again. even though every once in awhile you might bump into them.
