If we were brainwashed, would we know it?

I wouldn't go so far as "brainwashing", but the media does, to a large extent, set the agenda, direct the debate, focus the issues, characterize the candidates, and generate bias regarding all of the above. The 2000 Presidential election is a prime - and obvious - example. During that campaign, George Bush uttered far more factual lies than Al Gore (and regarding far more serious issues), yet who did the media portray as the man of integrity and who did they portray as the man who tended to dodge the truth? Since Dubya's election, he has lied more in two years than Clinton and Gore combined during the course of eight years in office. Do we hear about it on the major networks, the major print media? If you've got the impression, for example, that George W Bush is an honorable man, then perhaps you have been brainwashed - and that would definitely be the fault of the media for failing to do their job.

The media brain washes us every day. It is no different during elections. They set the agenda, they report what and how they please. There are many ways of controlling and reporting the news. The news is no longer "reported". There is ALWAYS a commentary with it. One of the first to introduce this type of reporting was Kipplinger. Now they use words that are very subtle...the Democrats have a "plan", the Republicans have a "scheme". It paints a word picture

Thid is nonsense.
What, specifically, do you feel is nonsense?
a. The fact that George W Bush is a liar
b. The fact that the media biased their coverage of the relative integrity of the two candidates
c. The word "Thid"
