How will the new Canadian PM minister affect the US? He seems to be pro America, but can we use another lap dog.

Martin seems to be extremely popular within the Liberal Party, seems to be firmly in the center on most issues, and seems to be non-confrontational and non-controversial compared to some previous Prime Ministers. I suspect he will bring Canada and the United States a little bit closer together. I predict that his name will not appear as often in newspapers in the USA as other Prime Ministers.

For most Americans, Canadian affairs are not "sexy" enough to warrant much attention. Certainly, the extremely important trade between the two nations, if nothing else, should be of interest.

I think Mr. Martin will be a positve effect to the US because he wants to repair the damage on relations from the opposition over the war in Iraq between our 2 countries. He also wants to improve trade relations with our nation as well.

I think he will be a fine friend for the US

You're contradicting yourself there in a way. By improving trade relations do you mean making them fair or legal under NAFTA, or reducing the U.S. trade deficit? Because I can assure you Paul Martin will not stand for the latter.
