the people who should be in the positions of power should be those who are the most qualified-regardless of their color or gender.

The question was ---by getting rid of affirmative action do think there will be less minorities in postions of power.

So if two people, one a minority, have equal qualifications for a position of power will the non minority have a better chance?

When I was working in a government office, some complained when a minority held a supervisory position, saying she wasn't qualified and was promoted only because she was a minority.( Never mind that there were some non minorities who weren't qualified for the positions they held.)

At least now, without affirmative action, that argument is moot.

I do ot believe the numbers of minorities that hold positions of "power" as you put it. Affirmative action quite often caused persons to become employed or receive scholarships etc. However, it did not guarentee them the positions of "power". Great minds as cream will rise to the top. One has only to look at C. Rice, Powell etc. to see what is happening.

as a minority myself, I feel that if a minority is less qualified for a position that they should not get it, Just because a person is a minority doesn't guarantee that they are qualified. If taking away affirmative action causes lower minorities at the top, that doesn't mean they are not being hired because of who they are, but because of their qualifications. I feel alot of the times minorities use the fact that they are minorities as a cop-out.
