America is living in a dreamworld.

If the American public want to sit back and enjoy their apple pies and SUV's I suggest you go no further.

America may well have the most powerful military and see itself as the 'knight in shining armour' roaming the world and forcing it to see things the way America does.
Lets face it, with all the money spent on it, the borrowing and taxes, it has to be used to fix the problems.

America is on the verge of bankruptcy.....living in a fools paradise.

As Charles Dickens wrote "a penny out and twopence in....happiness.
twopence out and a penny in....sadness". ( possibly not an exact quote ??? ) and the reason the debts have not been called in is because the world financial system is tied to the US Dollar.

Where is the gold production going???.
Perhaps being hoarded against the dollar collapse????.

These sites are by concerned Americans.

Jibes like these undermine whatever sincere concerns you may have.

The world's dependence on America will insure its survival; financial debts are easily forgiven or traded with political favors, economic opportunities etc...

The global economy, which is growing as we speak, will be centralized around America, and as America leads the world into centralization, it's future will be secured by its powerful position. Third world countries are the countries that should worry about survival.

Many of us may prefer the cold war culture where global power is somewhat balanced. However, the lack of freedom and human rights evidenced by The Soviet Union reveal that America's belief system IS preferable and the idea of IT spreading is comforting to many. (Ask the Russians, the Chinese, the Koreans, the Mexicans, Africans...must I continue?)

America's infrastructure will withstand whatever momentary financial troubles it is experiencing.

Living in America is not paradise, and this doom and gloom is unrealistic as well.

Rancid Uncle
America is the greatest country in the world, period. We may have our Gary Bauer's and Al Sharpton's. Our education system isn't that great. Our healthcare system isn't that great. Who are we being compared to? If 300,000,000 people moved to Sweden next week their education system might not be so great. Compare America to big countries. China , India, Brazil, Indonesia? We are a huge country with a lot of responsiblities. Sweden would be communist without America. We need to protect the free world. All the industialized countries need the United States to keep the world in balance.

I am in complete agreement with you on this point.

It was silly, shallow and pointless.
I apologise.
