Yikes!

Vice President Cheney's Christmas card this year not only offered best wishes for the holiday season but also bears the following quotation from Benjamin Franklin at the Constitutional Convention: "And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?"

So we are an empire ordained by God? I think we are not the first empire to have thought this, not nearly the longest lasting (so far at least) . . . and probably not the last empire to think this.

It is a shame that there are still people who believe in all that superstitious mumbo jumbo
