Senator Tom Daschle was whining yesterday about Conservative Talk Radio and Rush Limbaugh in general criticizing him . Daschle even went so far as to say that he gets hate mail and threats and blamed us (Talk Radio Hosts) for these events. Even more ridiculous was his comment likening talk radio hosts to Foreign Islamic Terrorists!

Stop your whining Tom, as an elected official this is part of life. I never heard Rush or any other Talk Show Host (including myself) telling anyone to threaten you. If someone is contact the FBI. How dare you compare me, Rush or any other conservative to Islamic Terrorists!

Did you forget about the first amendment right to FREE SPEECH ! Rush and I don't agree with you and it's our RIGHT to SAY SO!

Is it now going to be against the law to criticize a politician if you don't agree with him and if you do you will be part of a TERRORIST group, will it become HATE SPEECH !

I agree with you. I think that the reason talk radio is overwhelmingly conservative is because that is what mainstream America believes in. Regardless of what the DNC would have us think. Daschle realizes this and is grasping straws and trying to find a way to discredit Rush and the like, instead of admitting that millions of people listen to him because millions think the same things he does! I really don't think a liberal talk show can generate millions of listeners because the only places people like that flourish are certain towns and college campuses, and although they make a lot of noise in the media, they are not who make up the majority of this country.

I would like to throw in that I am glad that Daschle will be gone very soon and we will have control over the senate. At least Bush wont be a lame Duck President.

And right now, conservatism is currently mainstream. Mainstream simply means more common than not. The election results prove that.

Since Lincoln was President, the party of the President has only gained seats in both houses on four occasions: 1902, 1934, 1998, and 2002. This shows a huge shift in public opinion.

Midterm elections always have small turnouts and the contest goes to whichever party has a more mobilized, energized base. In this past midterm election that was narrowly a conservative advantage. The nation looks pretty closely divided to most people.

Extrapolating the results of the 2000 election (larger sample), id say a slim majority of voters swing slightly liberal (why else vote for gore and nader?)
Extrapolating the results of the much smaller midterm election might lead you to think the other way. Personally, ill go with the larger sample even though its still only half the population. Id credit the midterm "republican breeze" to weak democratic leadership.

Ill admit that conservative loyalists are certainly vocal today but then so were the hippies in the 1960s. They still werent representative of the whole country or even a majority, just loud.

I think that when he said that the radio was a possible lnking to islamic terrorist was completly wrong. IM SURE the government listnes to these radio stations. He is just crying because he lost the election
