I am new to this site (obviously), so I don't know if this sort of thing actually belongs in this specific forum.
I am here to point out just how fragile the corporate-driven world we live in today is. We are unprepared for large-scale disaster. Walk into a Wal-Mart or Target. Look around, see the incredible waste. Imagine what it would take to bring the system to collapsing.
All it would take would be a disease outbreak or misattributed terrorist attack. We do not have cures for vCJD or Ebola, as much as these have been worked on (in fact, Ebola has been engineered to kill more people in some places). Suddenly the corporate ideal--2.5 children, a home with a giant entertainment center, and a computer that has to be replaced every six months, with everyone weighing more than they should because of products "enhanced" to be less healthy (candy and other products with refined sugar, for example), plus the parents working desk jobs while the kids are sent off to day care or government brainwashing facilities.
In addition to this, look at the political situation in America now. The PATRIOT Acts. They are ridiculous. Their aims may be slightly respectable, but there is an American citizen down there in Guantanimo with his habeas corpus suspended, without following the constitution to do this. A [EDIT:BILL] just went through that allowed illegal immigrants to legally work in the US so our president can get more votes in the next election; we have the government giving handouts to people and paying for it with your (and my) money. The government is betting that security trumps freedom.
What is wrong with this picture?

I would suggest that you do a tad more research before starting a post. Case in point. There is no LAW that just went through about illegal immigrants, it is just the beginnings of a proposal.
