Bush’s lies have cost the lives of thousands of foreigners and hundreds of Americans, destroyed the infrastructure of an entire country, upended the lives of thousands more within that country and among the U. S. military, and bogged our country down in an occupation that threatens to last for decades and cost many more lives and many more billions of dollars. If Clinton’s lies, which were far less detrimental and harmed far fewer people than Bush’s, were cause for impeachment then how much more does Bush deserve not only to be impeached but also to be the first president in history to be convicted and thrown out of office by the Senate?

Comparisons with the Clinton impeachment are irrelevant ---

Truth is - one could have had a sufficient case over Enron - an abuse of public trust for private gain -

Wasn't it Gingrich who said that impeachment was only a matter of political will ----

But all this is degrading to our political system -- What is ultimately at stake IS our political system ---- Should George Bush be impeached?? I have little doubt that he is impeachable - that he has consistently and repeatedly abused the public trust for the gain of his family and his cronies - yes - BUT will he be impeached???

Like many members of this group I consider myself a conservative in the Burkean sense - a foundation in English common Law (NOT THE BIBLE) and the respect for tradition. LAW is the foundation of our great republic -

When G W Bush decided that he the right to declare someone an enemy combatant to be be held without charge or representation he ordained himself to be a despot.

If that person is a traitor or a terrorist than make your case before the law - do not begin to believe that it is simply a matter of your whim.

In my mind - G W Bush is not only impeachable - he is a traitor to the very core values of our nation -

He is leading our nation through fear (that he himself is culpable in having created) to a state that none of my antecedents would have trusted for a moment.

No true conservative can support him - nor can any true American.

I am old enough - and my family is old enough - and have been in too many wars for the virtue of liberty to be seduced into his world view.

If we read the constitution and the debates of the Federalists we must recognize the wisdom that tells that unchecked power - even if we think it is for the common good - is a vice and a failure.

I believe, of course, that America has justification to fight a war for our common good - I do not believe that we have any right (or any SENSE) to promote wars just to make profits for an elites interest.

We fought a revolution in this great country so we would not just be a pawn in the old British Commerical Empires or subject to the whims of Kings -----

George Bush is to Democracy what the Mafia is to Catholicism....

Dethroning him is not the answer - only a renewed vitality of honest debate and respect among FREE men and women ........

But, yeah, impeaching him would be fun........

What exact “lies” are we talking about. The ‘immanent” word he never used? Would you like to post some real statements and the proof that they were conscious lies?
