Questions for debate: Should laws not be passed unless people are told about them? Should some laws be repealed? I copied the following from Kucinich forum:

A local ordinance in Atwoodville, Connecticut, prohibits people from playing Scrabble while waiting for a politician to speak.
Can any law get more stupid and useless than this?

In Breton, Alabama, there is a law on the town's books against riding down the street in a motorboat.
A stupid law -- what if the street is flooded and lives need to be saved?

In Canada, if a debt is higher than 25 cents, it is illegal to pay it with pennies.
Another stupid law.

How do you propose you learn about the laws that have been on the books for years? How bored would you get after the 20th page? Would you still be reading at page 30? How many pages would you NOT have set on fire by page 40?
Ah you've proven my point - people get stressed out when they can't memorize every single law passed.

There are hundreds of laws passed every year, from tax laws to traffic laws, to changing a misdemeanor to a felony and vis-versa. It would take you about a week to get through them all. How many would you retain?
Ah you've proven my other point - people can't memorize every law passed. There's no way citizens in a society could be able to stay lawless. As far as I'm concerned, it's time to either pass laws that people can be told about and memorize or not pass them at all.
