Okay, now that I have 170 posts I figure that I've been here long enough that I should probably post some pics.

Here's one of me with my oldest daughter taken back in 2002:



This is me, my youngest daughter (in the baby car seat -- she was only a few weeks old), husband and father-in-law taken this past December in front of our house. It's not as clear as the first one, but at least it's more recent.

Nah, I believed I mentioned it in a thread before but just to get it out in the open, I went AWOL from the Army cause my CoC and the Cadre there were all dirtbags. In fact, I've recently learned that the senior drill sgt was busted down to E-1 for having sexual relations with the other privates, others for drugs, misconduct, etc. I also felt that I couldn't trust my 'battle buddies' in the field. They'd either get me killed or kill me personally. No matter what I believed though, it was the biggest mistake of my life. I regret it to this day.

So, one night, my drill sergeant dared some of us to go AWOL, and I did the next morning. I heard he was in tears the next day...anyhow, I spent a week crossing the country by bus, spent a month with my friend in a beautiful place outside Philly called Ambler, went back to Cali (naively thinking I'd get seperation paperwork in the mail). Realizing that I had a FEDERAL warrant out for my arrest and knowing I couldnt get a job with it over my head, I took a bus to Ft. Irwin and turned myself in. From there I went to Ft Sill, spent a week doing menial crap, playin hackey sack in BDU's and drove with another guy back to FT. Bliss, where I found out they ditched all my belongings after a month. C'est la vie. Then took a bus back to Cali. That was about a year and a half ago.

Although I made that choice, it is one I regret very much. I still support everyone who makes the decision to join and support the armed forces wholeheartedly. As if you couldn't tell by the flat top and the clean shaven face. (although when my boys are in the NHL playoffs, I follow tradition and let a beard grow out) Irony, huh?

If you know anyone who is thinkin about going AWOL, get ahold of me, I'd like to talk them out of it.

That which suprised me was Go America. I thought he would be an old, worn repub., not so.

Mrs P looks sweet as cherry pie, would never think that she is THE 'Mrs' P. who turns our tracks around when we are getting too uppity and claiming rumour as fact.

I like this faces to names, it really helps to realize who we are speaking to, humanizing each other. Cyan is commendable for this idea and AD for providing space for the photos.

Oh - and, Titus, I recognized the Titus Andronicus pic (great movie, btw), but it's difficult to divorce the avatar from the contributor sometimes. It could be worse: I went for months imagining that Ultimatejoe looked like Space Ghost - and still think of redliner as bearing a remarkable resemblance to Sara Evans!
