I would have to say that is one of the best description of Bush talk that I have ever heard. It fits him to a T. thumbsup.gif

The economic recovery one is wrong.
The war on terror one is just plain bogus

the attempt at humor in the link is sad

The Democrats are laughing now...but the Republicans will have the last laugh after the final results are in on Election Day 2004. mrsparkle.gif laugh.gif tongue.gif

Will the Republicans, conservatives, (where are they, because I actually miss them) be laughing? Sorry Desert, but I have NOT seen too much exuberation or laughing amongst my republican counterparts about Bush. I realize that partisanship is a big part of politics, but lets not have our heads totally in the sand. There are hardly any Republicans shouting out that Bush is their idealogical leader nor that he represents their overall interests, and in fact are legitimately worried. This time around for Repubs its more about a lesser of two evils, welcome to the club. May we 'keep it real' as they say?
Didnt Congressional Republicans recently warn Bush on spending?

Arent staunch Republicans totally *** NOTICE: THIS WORD IS AGAINST THE RULES. FAILURE TO REMOVE IT WILL RESULT IN A STRIKE. *** off about the Temp workers prop? How about Mars, in an era of instability and extreme deficit?

Noone is going to be laughing in Nov 2004, no matter how it goes, and noone really should be. The Shia Muslims are threatening all out civil war in Iraq , at 60% of the population and if we dont give them general elections, they are going to revolt. Israel and Palestine are at a height of stress with the wall and terror, as well that Isreal wants to go to war with Syria and the US wants submission from Iran, not to mention DPRK. Our troops are extended to their maximum, tours of duty being extended, reservists serving permanent duty, and 500 soldiers dead after Bush declared an end to the conflict, more soldiers dead than in 3 years into the vietnam war.

Bush policy is a non sequitur. We see the day of say one thing, do another, almost to a level of 1984 Orwellian standpoint. War is peace, Freedom is slavery, Ignorance is strength. ( Clear skies, Healthy forests, No child Left behind, Patriot act, War on terror etc.)
The neo-cons want to march on forward, but I do not see REAL Republicans backing this. I dont see them laughing for sure, about Bush's foreign or domestic policy, economics, the war in Iraq or almost anything, except hes better than Dean.

So, You Desert Resident may be laughing, and if you are , kudos, for a great deal of detachment from so much suffering, both here and abroad. I dont relate to your good humor or enthusiasm, with either party. I know that this last year has not been a year of laughter with a Republican President and the same in Congress.
And with this admin and the supporting \ Neo-cons advocating perpetual war at every turn, lets hope you have something to laugh about at any time in the near future.

The reason for that is quite simple, Artemise. Republicans actually don't know how to laugh, but they try, and can often, through the art of mimicry, achieve a sort of obnoxious warble.

Sorry, but I've never seen them possess much of a sense of humour.

You know, Bush did do some great things. Like cripple America's economy so that the Australian dollar can rise high against the might of the U.S dollar. Buying books from America has never been so cheap!

Er. But of course, it's unfortunate about that war thing. blush.gif

My reference to the Democrats may be laughing now (meaning at the STU Dictionary to use as an armchair companion when President Bush gives his STU address). We will have the last laugh...

Excuse me....but I witnessed plenty of smiles and pride tonight on the one side of the aisle while 75% of the time the other side sat like bumps on a log. If the Democrats's message has been so upbeat...why then did Kerry and Edwards' poll ratings shoot up considerably when they cut the bashing and started talking more positive? Why then did Dean's pep rally with his supporters in Iowa sound more like he came in first place than third place? Two reasons: he finally got the message-enough anger, enough bashing and he was rallying his troops so he doesn't lose his base support.

The Democrats talk gloom and doom. Yes, we have some serious problems, but we always have and always will. Gloom and doom get us nowhere fast. Staying focused, positive, and giving people hope goes a lot further than the continuous echoing of gloom and doom-nothing is good, everything and everyone is wrong or bad. It just "ain't" so...and to those who believe it...they have my deepest sympathy and I hope they get well soon!

I just finished reading - mostly browsing - the state of the union address. Why do they keep applauding at nothing much?

Since we're on the topic of humorous Bush-bashing. Click on watch movie. So apt.

Temporary Worker Program: In lieu of real immigration reform, an election-year initiative that provides businesses with a temporary and cheap workforce without ensuring protections for immigrant workers.

I'm impressed with the author's inside knowledge. My notes on the speech showed that he was not willing to extend amnesty to illegal aliens working in the U.S., just willing to match employers to older workers, parolees, etc. to keep them off welfare and Social Security...

I went back to see how the State of the Union Dictionary defined unfunded mandates, and found there was no definition. So...

Proposed Definition: Unfunded Mandate: A program or event which sounds too good to be true, but which you'll have to pay for anyway.

Example: A girl is picked up for a first date by the fellow she met through an Internet Dating Service. He arrives in a very nice car, dressed in a suit and tie, and takes her to a very nice restaurant. He hands the car keys to a valet, and after they are seated, he orders Surf & Turf and a drink. She orders accordingly. At the end of the meal, he starts to fumble for his wallet. Then the manager arrives with the police. The police explain to her that he is a new employee at the restaurant, and that using a customer's car to pick her up constituted a parole violation. She is asked to come along to the station for questioning. At that point, the manager wants to know, "Who is going to be paying for the dinner?"
