Question to debate : In what way would the formation of a Palestinian state help the peace process along in the Middle East?
Are their other more important steps first, or should this be paramount?

First Step: Reconciliation.
In 1948, nearly 800,000 Palestinians(2/3 of the population), were driven off there land. They were made refugees, and fled to nearby countries. Such as Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt. They lost all their property, were thrown out by zionist forces, and left with nothing.
A total of 400 villages were destroyed and erased from the geography books.
In the war of 1967, Israel launched countless air strikes against Palestinian cities and towns in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The air raids caused more then 350,000 people to flee. In Short, They were forced out through terror.
The UN Security Council and the General Assembly called on Israel to facilitate the return of Palestinian Refugees. The Palestinians, waited for nearly 20 years in miserable refugee camps trusting that the U.N. would allow them to soon return to their homes.
The U.N. passed resolutions, although they were not enforced. They conflicted with Israel, and of course, The United States, the world soon forgot, and the cries of the Palestinians soon fell on deaf ears.
Israel argued that the return of the Palestinians would cause severe security problems for the state of Israel.
The Palestinians, finding that all their lands were under the control of Israel, lost its faith in the U.N. and came to release that might is right, and what is lost by force can only be regained by force.
They showed resistance with guerrilla attacks against Israeli military personnel. The Israelis of course retaliated with Bombardments, napalm, etc. Against defenseless men, women, and children in their refugee camps in Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.
History will not erase itself, and in order for there to be peace in the middle east, palestinians and israeli's need to reconcile the past. A two state solutions without a reconcilation will solve nothing.
