I noticed several people saying they couldn't copy/paste from .pdf files, so I figured I'd help you out. This can be done, at least with Adobe reader 6.0. If you don't have it, it can be easily downloaded, it's freeware.

There's a button on the menu bar that says select text. Hit that. Then highlight, copy, paste, like you normally would.

Some .pdf files are encoded as text, others are just scans of texts in image format. To copy/paste from those you'd need OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software.
