I was just curious if anyone has read Blinded by the Right, its by David Brock. He wrote The Real Anita Hill, and The Seduction of Hillary Rodham Clinton. And since the majority of people on here are a wee more right than I am, what did you of think of it? I read it for the pure scandalous entertainment factor, although it is quite interesting. It may just tell you about the right wing conspiracy.

Also, has anyone read Bias by Bernard Goldberg (I think?). Its supposed to be about the liberal bias in the media, but it deals with a few other issues that dont seem too partisan to me (there is a chapter on racism).

Yes, I read them both, but since I don't know what I'm talking about or some other insulting remark, you won't be interested in my opinion.
Another good book is Revisiting the Great Depression by Gene Smiley.

I have not read any of the previously mentioned books, my political book reading is pretty much summed up: Hardball, The Great Tax Wars.

Hardball is a classic. biggrin.gif

Oh god, are we going to get into this? You are equally insulting to me, constantly telling me that I am "misinformed" and that I should read about what I am talking about when in fact, I provide sources for most of the things I have said.

Since it seems you are the only one who has read the books I am referring to, I would be interested in your opinion. It differs from mine, and I am curious to know what people think of David Brock now. I was not familiar with him until the book came out, and was quite shocked and horrified by what I read. Do you think its true, or is he on the payroll for Iraq too?

Maybe, but I didn't need to be edited.
The book Bias was ok. It gave a view point, but I felt he also had an ax to grind, and considered that also. It is informative though and I think worth the read. It sounded like you had not yet read it so I don't want to say too much. It is a fast read.
Brock is sort of nuts. I don't know if I believe a thing he says anymore. It isn't so much what side he takes as much as knowing his background how much he switches around. The stories in it are fun. Like the other...take some grains of salt.
I would be interested to know what you think of them. Iraqi Payroll? Tough question, but I would guess not much if at all. More likely a provocative stand to make the money.
I did not read The seduction of Hillary C. Did you? How was it?
I'm behind on my reading from spending too much time on here! sad.gif
HAPPY THANKSGIVING. I SINCERELY HOPE YOU HAVE A GOD DAY AND I LIKED YOUR PICTURE ESPECIALLY THE HAT

Oh Ive read both of them. Although I havent read any of Brocks other books, and I probably wont. I dont care much for reading about H. Clinton, and I know the slant with the Anita Hill book. I do believe alot of what he had to say, but cant remember any of those things. Especially about Ann Coutler. That woman is the devil. And, theres a local news columnist in Denver that went to school with her, and had pretty much the same things to say about her. Its not the best of information, but there's more than one person saying she's a mean-spirited hypocrite.

I thought Bias was rather funny, with the whole "Its the same as murdering my children" bit from the president or whoever of CBS. I hardly think there is a liberal bias in the media, and that didnt really change my mind. I believe the media bias is more like the "popular" liberal views, which the majority accepts, and that the real left is hardly given a voice. He also mentions nothing about how advertisers pressure journalists. The American media pampers its corporate sponsers, which is hardly "liberal". Also, the point about racism didnt seem too conservative or liberal, but a problem that should be addressed. There are some other points, but I read the book during the summer so I cant remember them all.

and Thanks! I hope your day goes well too. I am going to try my hand at actually cooking this year (cranberry tarts and ginger glazed carrots).
