As the admin, I'd like to encourage people to post whatever size posts they please.
As long as you don't post copywritten material, it is fine with me.

As the author of the occasional long post, might I suggest that, if you're bored, you simply skip that posting and go on to the next? If another participant is responding to part of a lengthier post, they will frequently quote the pertinent section, allowing the easily bored to continue following the thread.

If you are bored by a topic, and you don't care about what the people in a debate have to say about it, than why are you debating in the first place?

I agree that if you don't like reading long posts then-- brace yourself-- don't read the long posts.
Many of the posts here are more than the standard fare that you find at most message boards. They are more like mini-essays, with many authors fully citing sources, linking to articles, and proving a main point.
Most of our members don't merely rant, they take the time to prove their points. I know for a fact that many of our members spend hours preparing their argument. After all, a well formulated argument is the first step to debating.
If it were up to me, all posts would be this way. And people would use the spellcheck.

I see your point. Sometimes when I debate I can be very long too. I guess its just that in the eyes of a High School student we dont like reading long essays although sometimes i do so i take back what I previously stated.
