Full Version: Question Regarding Holocaust Casualty Numbers
You do not ask questions like these in polite or sensitive circles anymore or you'd be considered a pariah.
But Hutton Gibson ( Mel's father ) invited controversy when he cast doubts on the number of Jews actually killed in the Holocaust.
He says on radio that everywhere he goes, he sees Holocaust "survivors" ( EMPHASIS ). He has not seen a good method accounting for
the alleged ( his words ) enormity of the genocide.
This public expression of skepticism has sparked outrage in the Jewish community and is partly one of the reasons why Mel's film, THe Passion of Christ is being denounced as anti-Semitic.
I don't believe that Mr. Gibson ( the father ), is a Holocaust denier. He acknowledges the enormity of the atrocities. But I have a question which I hope you educated folks at Free Conservatives can add to my store of knowledge.
How do we REALLY KNOW the approximate figure of 6 Million Jews slaughtered by Hitler is true ? How does one account for the number and
what scientific methodology is used to come up with that figure ?
Don't get me wrong. I believe that the Holocaust did occur, and even if the number were exagerrated by 90%, 600,000 is still genocide and Hitler is still a certifiable monster and the Holocaust is still evil. All I am asking is this ---- how do we know the 6 million figure closely approximates reality ?
For that matter, this issue will be relevant to the actual number of Iraqis murdered by Saddam Hussein. Even now, many Arabs are casting doubts on the so called 300,000 figure being bandied about. How do we account for the number ?
