I came across a quiz (for want of a better word) at the Libertarian Party's web site in which one ranks the positions of four politcal parties based on quotes from their actual platforms.

In the "long version" (which didn't take as long as suggested), out of a possible 700 points of agreement with each party, my assessment came out a follows:

Green: 245
Democratic: 220
Libertarian: 215
Republican: 160

In the "short version" (which tends to force the bias of the results a bit), I most closely associated with the platform of the Green Party's stance on 3 issues, with the Democrats on 2 issues, with the Libertarian Party on 2 issues, and with the Republicans on 0.

In short, it looks like I don't much care for anyone. Though I have a clear lack of agreement with Republicans. Big surprise.

Looks like I'm most aligned with the Greens, followed by the Democrats, Libertarians and (of course) the Republicans dead last.

No big surprise here.

Least aligned with Republicans....however, evenly spread out upon the field elsewhere, which is where I felt I'd end up....no surprise for me...

This time I am a Green Democrat
I tried doing it different this time and give a zero rating to those ideas I disliked.
Seems to me to be a bit too simplistic. The chioces offered are many times very close in wording and only a few are dictincly different enough to be clearly of different parties.
Having read through the Green Party's manifesto I really can say I would never vote Green. We agree on drug decriminalization and immigration.

Hmm, with these results Democrats, Republicans and Greens all look like pretty much the same thing from where I sit. Only the Libertarians come at all close to my ideals.

Point of information: It was actually the McCarthyites who started referring to the "Democrat Party" - as a way of implying that they were undemocratic and more likely to be communist sympathizers.

Out of a total possible score of 540, I received:

Interesting test!

This is a very interesting test. Without going into the exact numbers, which would vary quite a bit depending on my mood, the "short form" tells me I am Green/Democratic, and the "long form" tells me I am Green/Libertarian. This seems quite accurate. If I am forced to choose my position quickly and without considering the good points of other opinions, I'm a tree-hugging feminist lefty. With more time to think about it, and seeing the worth of other viewpoints, I become a tree-hugging feminist lefty who is very suspicious of government in any form.

I didn't see the "importance" meter the first time...I took the long version again, and it scares me even more...Well...At least I'm not a Green...Okay So I'm a moderate Republitarian...Right...
