Who is God? Comments?

God isn't a who. I think people created God because they needed something to believe in. I think of God as the philosophical beliefs and ideals of humans. We want to create order in our lives so we say someone was control over everything. God is just a human need for order and leadership. Even atheists believe in right and wrong. I just don't need a religion to tell me right and wrong.

God is the perfect and idea embodiment of the human beings that created by ourselves. He is also a spiritual prop, that can encourage people in hard times; instruct people to be kind in the life. Where is God? He is always in our heart.

every person has his or her own thoughts on who god is. And if humans made god up that means 97% of the wirld believes in a god. So where'd the books come from? have you heard of the dead sea scrolls?

I am sure you were thinking of a clear point here, but I must confess I have no idea what you're saying. I really don't mean to sound smug or anything. I just can't make heads or tails of your post. I have heard of the dead sea scrolls. And?
If humans made up god, therefore 97% of the world believes in a god? I don't see the relationship between these... I mean, most people on the planet already do believe in a god, whether or not that god is made up...
Any chance on a clarification?

God is a big spirit, not a Who. Whos are little critters in Whoville.
People need to believe in myths to grasp the big spirit. We often confuse these myths with truth, and so get all bent out of shape over nothing. Then we run around inventing religious dogma and get bent out of shape over that too. We must enjoy getting bent out of shape.

God is a mythical evil entity that is against freedom of thought and threaten people if they don't blindly worship him

According to
The Devil's Dictionary by Ambrose Bierce:

Religion, n. A daughter of Hope and Fear, explaining to Ignorance the nature of the Unknowable
Just figured I'd throw that definition out there. . .

God is a myth of epic proportion.
Religion is the supersition that provides a context for the God myth.

Might as well throw in my opposing opinion of God.
God is the creator of heaven and earth. He is a triune God consisting of God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is above all things and in absolute control of all things. He delights in His creation and in particular mankind. He has created mankind in His image and revealed His will to us through the Bible. He has sent His Son as the propitiation of sin for those who choose to receive it. He will judge all mankind at the last days and decide their eternal outcome to either be with Him or without Him.

the brain is god-Dr. Timothy Leary
I think of god as the energy that course through all things. all is god ad god is all.
simply put, god is the energy that is released when a peice of matter collides with antimatter (the process responsble for the formation of the universe.
just a little off topic real quick: this is my 1/4 century post.

Ah, Welcome Jedi. May the force be with you.
I have no idea who God is.
I believe organized religion was created by people to understand their existence and then it was embraced by government to promote social control. I recognize that religion played a major role in our world becoming civilized; however, it has also been the cause of many conflicts throughout history to today.
Being raised in our existing society, I believe I would have acquired the same moral traits I possess without organized religion. This does not mean that I do not believe in God; however, I do not cling to the belief to cope with the thought of my possible future nonexistence.
The concept of God is easier for me to accept than the concept of Heaven. All the details of religion (outside of the mere concept of God) are what confuse the issue for me. I believe in evolution and the Bible's stories simply don't compare to what we've learned through science since the Bible was written. This has caused me to question other concepts in the Bible that don't seem logical - like Heaven. Therefore, I've chosen to believe that God created the universe and evolution was a result of this.
Obviously, I'm on the fence regarding the God issue but I'm not on the fence regarding organized religion. It's served it's purpose and it's time society found another way to deal with social issues.
