It would take all day to scour all the posts to find ones where people have quoted you or replied to you. There seems to be know way of telling this.

Some other forums have tree diagrams to show who has responded to or quoted you. They also notify you upon receipt of a reply, even if you didn't start the topic (i.e. there is a 'reply' button to each post). And you don't have to reply at the end of all the posts. This makes it a more 'lateral' debate and would make it more of a series of multiple one on one debates rather than a free for all. The current system leaves it open to 'heckling'. They could put the tree at the beggining of each topic in the forum.

Is this a good suggestion? what do y'all think?

Hi. I changed the topic title to reflect the actual content of your post and avoid the string of unconstructive posts that are sure to follow with a title like that... wink.gif

Being able to tell when a member quotes you would be nearly impossible to implement in an efficient manner. This will likely never be a feature.

But, you can easily find your own posts.

First, if you view your own profile, you will notice a listing of your last ten posts at the bottom-right corner.

Second, also from your profile, you can click "Find all posts by this member" under your name, with "you" being "this member" in this case.

Third, you can click the "My Assistant" link at the top right of the forum and then click "My last 10 posts" to view your last 10 posts.

This may be implemented in the next two months. It would be completely optional for users, and easily switchable. In all likelihood, most people won't use it. It is confusing to all but the veterans of online discussion. Here is an example topic from the software developer's forum so you understand what I mean: http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php?...2&mode=threaded

Two options here.

1. Check the "Enable email notification of replies? " box when replying to/starting a topic.

2. Hit the "Options" button at the bottom left of any topic, and then click "Track this topic."

You can manage your topic/forum subscriptions by clicking "My Controls" at the top right, and then clicking "View Topics" or "View Forums" on the left hand side under "Subscriptions."

Addressed above. We will have the option to offer this view to members, although we haven't made the decision on whether or not it will be used.
