I found this really cool program that lets you have voice conversations with people. It was orriginally intended to run behine online games but most people use it to have chats. I was thinking AD could get a server ( servers are free and run on someones computer) tell me what you guys think.www.teamspeak.org

I use this, also have a server set up for my PC so can host up to 8 people before it dies. Havent used it in a while but it can be fun, the only trouble I've found is that a lot of people find actually talking intimidating and talk more freely in posts which they can preview and edit smile.gif

Don't think it would be good for an actual debate chat because of this, plus people might fall out or misinterpret things. Ive never found accent to be a problem, most of the people I talk to are not only from around the British Isles (which has a massive variation in dialect) but Europe and North America also and we get by. An AD teamspeak chat would be something I'd get up at 4am for smile.gif

I appreciate the suggestion, but this is something that we have no plans to implement.

Allowing realtime voice communication opens the site up to incredible amounts of liability, and would demand massive amounts of time to moderate and maintain.

Additionally, from what I can tell, the software isn't a simple php script. It is actual server software-- an application. Not only do we lack the access to install such an application, but our host would never grant us the resources to run a voice communication system in a shared hosting environment. Additionally, it would likely be a violation of our data center's Acceptable Use Policy to run a chat server in their center due to the security risks they often contain.

This is simply not feasible, so I am going to close this topic. Feel free to PM me if you have any more concerns.
