Everybody got one or two. It comes on and away you go like you're at a kareoke bar and had way too much to drink. all of a sudden you're the next American Idol.
People stare at you in your car as you drive by.
Sometimes they're embarrassing (Go ahead guys start singing "I feel like a woman" in the grocery store.

So come on, don't be shy!

Let it all hang out w00t.gif

Well, there are quite a few songs I like which don't quite fit my 'masculinity'. For example I am very fond of Diana Ross's 'Upside down' and Billie Holiday's 'Them there eyes'.

I also rather like Wagner which amongst some of my friends is looked up as Nazi music blink.gif
Victoria Silverwolf
There are probably a zillion songs that I have no rational reason for liking, but which I enjoy. Some that come to mind are the old disco song "Car Wash" (and I hate disco) and many of the brainless, repetitive songs of AC/DC.
Artemise
Whitney Houston. She has a great voice, almost noone can sing her and I like a lot of her stuff but Ive never bought a CD. Soppy, but eh, what can you do.

Hootie and the Blowfish, all of it.

Creed, though waning now I used to like them to the chagrin of my friends.

Sorry Im not good at remembering song names.
CruisingRam
I have no shame when it comes to my music- I like old funk and all hip hop music- though it can seem slightly wierd seeing a middle aged white man in Alaska getting down to "da funk" LOL

I love anything by Goerge Clinton.

Any song by Journey. I've never purchased a CD,
yet I somehow seem to know almost every song by heart...... ph34r.gif

I have no shame, I'll admit to anything I like:

Sugar Sugar - the Bob Marley version that is

Torekaekko Puriizu by Suzukisan, a Pokemon song in Japanese

Anime music and J-Pop in general

Not something I would mention to anyone...except here!

blush.gif Oh how I hope and pray that my METAL/PUNK buddies never see this!!!.........."Woudn't It Be Nice"- (a sappy teen love song wub.gif ) by The Beach Boys. Actually, my taste in music varies widely from Metal and Punk to Bluegrass and Classical. Just don't tell anyone that I own the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack as well as The Cranberries ("Linger" is a great song that I will deny loving publicly if asked wub.gif ). Great question! I could go on and on. laugh.gif blush.gif

Just about any country song, except "I fell like a woman". (although it is catchy) My favorite is probably "Don't take the girl" by Tim Mcgraw, it almost brings a tear to my eye. Another one by him is "Best friend". Ok I admit it, you twisted my arm. I own the Tim McGraw greatest hits album, and it's usually in my car CD changer at all times. Whew, I said it, I feel better now.
CobraNightViper
This is possibly the most difficult question in the world. I could spit out quantum physics before I could think of my #1 song. lol.

I'm a big fan of music anyways. From Maynard Ferguson to Maynard James Keenan (of Tool and A Perfect Circle) I'll listen to anything. Well, except this new country. I loathe this "It's good to be a mindless Christian patriot" pablum they pass of as art. If it has no controversy, what good does it really do? If it evokes no emotion (other than "OMG I gotta change the station!"), it's not good music.

One song that I would admit is one of my tops is Skunk Anansie - Charlie Big Potato. The video is completely mind-blowing as well. Anything by Rage Against the Machine, that's up there on the list. Mudvayne - A World So Cold is impeccable. I guess that will do for now.

Though if I had to admit to songs that most people wouldn't think of me as knowing... Anything by the Bangles, Baby I Love Your Way by Big Mountain, well, alot of 80s music, Erykah Badu (modern day Lady Day she's that good), Seal, Rush, Declan Galbraith. Like I said, just about anything I'll listen to. Heck, I've even got covers of old 70's porn music! hahahaha

And I can't read I suppose as I NOW realize what the question is. hahaha.
The song that I hope no one knows I have on my computer:
Milli Vanilli - Blame it on the Rain AND Girl You Know it's True.

Veggie Tales and any Disney song. I know ALL the words. The Disney stuff before I even had a kid.
I listen to almost anything and everything. My MP3 collection spans lotsa Gigs.
But I always feel wrong when I blast Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi, oh the shame.

Annie's Song, by John Denver.

I'll right, I'll come out of the closet: a lot of songs by John Denver, in particular Rocky Mountain High, Take Me Home Country Road, and Sunshine On My Shoulder....had one of his albums a long time ago--would catch myself actually singing along (not a good thing, for anyone that's ever heard me try to sing). whistling.gif

Some country tunes really get to me to: most recently Kenny Chesney's "There goes my life". Lyrics Here

Get a little teary-eyed just reading the lyrics (I've got a little girl--can't help it).

I'm usually an Old Time Rock'n'Roll Guy, but I guess the cats out of the bag now.

Who Stole the Kishka by Frank Yankovic (no relation to Wierd Al). That song is just so ridiculous I cannot help but laugh like an idiot every time I hear it or even think of it. Polka is completely ridiculous as it is, but this one more so considering a kishka is a piece of cow intestine used for making sausage.

I am a big fan of goofy nonsensical humor.

OK, I'll add a couple of my guilty pleasures:

Super Freak - Rick James (she's super freaky, YOW) laugh.gif

My faves are all classic rock but the top song for me is hard for to choose, it's one of two choices;

Cowboy Song - Thin Lizzy

The Song Remains the Same - Led Zepellin (this was a hard one since I like just about everything from LZ)

We Didn't Start the Fire - Billy Joel

Daffy - that's too funny. Just today, CNN ran a Blender poll stating that song was no. 41 on the Top 50 List of Worst Songs Ever (CNN article ).

I was a bit sad to see Simon & Garfunkel's, 'Sounds of Silence' and the Beatles', 'Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da' on there. I love those songs and I don't care who knows.

As for my semi-embarrassing favorites - late 70's and early 80's country and western music is the best. "Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas with Waylon and Willie and the boys..." gets me singing everytime. I'll also list 'El Paso' even though it's older (Marty Robbins wrote it in 1959). mrsparkle.gif

Edited to add - you're not alone on the Bangles, Argonaut. 'Manic Monday' gets stuck in my head on one-two mondays a month wacko.gif

Hahaha. Hmmm. Lemme see here.

Anything by Barry Manilow. "Weekend in New England" in particular. I used to sing Barry Manilow to this one girl when I was in the Army at Ft. Huachuca. She loved it! Everyone else thought I was insane though. (Rock on Eeyore!)

That and some others...

The new wave classic "Two of Hearts" by Stacey Q.

"Hello" by Lionel Ritchie.

"Love Child" by the Diana Ross and the Supremes.

"She's a Lady" by Tom Jones

Not really ashamed of any of the songs I love (I've always been one of the "who cares what anyone else thinks" folks)...but here's a list of some of the stuff I love that others don't particularly like or that scream "I'm an 80s child":

all sorts of songs from Musicals: Seven Brides for Seven Brothers songs, Singin' in the Rain songs, On the Town songs, Westside Story Songs, Guys and Dolls songs, and on and on and on....

* Superfreak
* anything as performed by the Three Mo Tenors (got to see them live and WOW!!!! I've seen a lot of Symphony performances in my day and they were far and away my favorite!)
* I'm With You (Avril Lavigne - I just love the song for some odd reason)
* Travelin' Soldier (Dixie Chicks, whom I like despite the fact that they are 'country' singers)
* No Doubt stuff
* Electric Avenue
* Cutie Pie (One Way)
* Let it Whip (Dazz Band)
* Atomic Dog (LOVE this song!!!)
* More Bounce to the Ounce (best dance song EVER!)
* Dancin' on the Ceiling (which was on that "list" that just came out - I like Lionel Richie and I like that song)
* the Oh Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack - good stuff!
* all sorts of classical - particular Chopin & Tchiakovsky - favorite pieces being Polonaise Heroic #6 and Nutcracker Suite Arabian Dance (Coffee)
* all sorts of classic jazz (Stan Getz, Dizzy, Duke, Ella, Nina, etc.)
* Bed of Roses (Guns 'n Roses) - SO not my kind of music (about the only things i don't like are Hard Rock/Heavy Metal or whatever it's called and most country)
* Friends in Low Places

I know there are a TON more...that's all I can think of now!

Oh and When Doves Cry is a GREAT song! You should be PROUD to love that song! Prince is a genius when it comes to song-writing (he's a strange guy, but the man is good and his voice is just, WOW!) - I'm not a HUGE fan of his, but he is really talented.

Oh and I like Weekend in New England, too.
Aquilla
Oh man, just thinking about this one makes my head hurt. blink.gif I'm a child of the 50's and 60's and I think we had the best music of any generation. I'm not really embarrassed by most of the music I like, even my kids like it. But growing up in Colorado when I did, any admission that you liked John Denver was social suicide. ermm.gif My favorite John Denver song is Autograph. Having gone through two marriages, I'd have to also choose All my ex's live in Texas which I think is Waylon Jennings. unsure.gif I also really like Mac Davis' song Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble. innocent.gif I also like Barry Manilow and Frank Sinatra.
Robin_Scotland
I love the Oh Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack too kmsouthern smile.gif

Its difficult to pick a particular song, as I love different types of music. A few of my favourites would be

Walk of Life by Dire Straits
White Wedding by Billy Idol
A Design for Life by Manic Street Preachers
Insomnia by Faithless
Blue Monday by New Order
Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen
War by Edwin Starr
Two Tribes by Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Welcome Home by Metallica
Someone to Love by Jefferson Airplane

Okay... blush.gif

"Nine to Five" - Dolly Parton
"Barbara Ann" - The Beach Boys
"It's Raining Men" - The Weather Girls

I also have a weakness for Doo Wop - like "Mr. Sandman", "Sh-Boom", and The Marcels' "Blue Moon"

Oh - and probably most embarrassing, the Gay National Anthem: Gloria Gaynor singing "I Will Survive" ohmy.gif
slim
I listen to just about anything, but most of my friends cringe when I get near the jukebox!

I LOVE anything by Hank Williams, Sr. Ramblin' Man, Kaw-Liga, Be Careful of Stones That You Throw, you get the picture. Not embarassed, mind you, but most people don't seem to care for this music here where I am.

'Luka' by Suzanne Vega.
'Leaving on a Jetplane' by John Denver.
'Garden Party' by Rick Nelson
'To Be With You' by Mr. Big

ROFLMAO!!!!! w00t.gif

Robin Scotland - FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD! Omigawd, I’m having a really bad 80’s flashback! ohmy.gif

OK, somebody help me with a another 80’s flashback…what was the name of the hit song that The Gap Band did that was played to death in all the clubs? I used to love dancing to that…and it was sooooo awful!

Oh, gosh, here’s another one: “Addicted to Love.”

Long live the 80s, the greatest era of pop music!

I'm not sure what song you are refering to but Addicted to Love is another fab tune. Other fantastic bands of the 80s: the Bangles, Flock of Seagulls, the Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen, Iron Maiden, A-ha, Duran Duran, Tears for Fears and the Cure biggrin.gif

Or maybe I'm just mad.

'To Be With You' by Mr. Big - that's one of my husband's favorite songs. I like it, but he plays it ALL the time. I would like it more if I didn't have to listen to it so often!

Gap Band - ah what a great band! I am a fan of funk so naturally I like them. Here are a few of their more popular songs:

You Dropped a Bomb on Me - this is probably the one you're thinking of
Outstanding - my favorite of theirs.
Oops Upside Your Head (methinks it's not this one as it's wasn't as popular).

the Dixie Chicks. On the same CD (Home) they do
a re-make of Landslide (by Stevie Nicks), it's
a favorite of mine. But, I'm not embarrassed by any of this..

Celine Dion is one of my favorite singers. Apparently it's
sort of un-cool to like her music. unsure.gif Anyway, she does
a song called "I Drove All Night" that I love, amongst
countless others.

I was only a kid during the '80s but every time I heard "These Dreams" by Heart or anything on the Moody Blues "The Other Side of Life" album, I can't help but remember my M.A.S.K. t-shirt (PLEASE TELL ME IF ANY OF YOU REMEMBER THAT CARTOON!) playing with my SilverHawks action figs while watching Knight Rider.

No really, I have searched high and low for another human being on this planet that remembers MASK! I had most of the toys, easily the best boys toys ever made, and lots of video recordings! I recently discovered it is shown on Fox Kids over here, sadly a channel I don't get as I have basic cable. And Knightrider! I used to listen to the theme tune in my bed every night online2long.gif

Sorry for going off topic, but the mention of MASK caught me offguard! I was also a kiddy in the 80s (born 1983) but I look back on those few years more fondly than I do on the 90s.

I guess it's the age difference, but the 80's was pretty much a wasteland, music-wise, IMHO. Sorry! stuff off the Chicago 16 and 17 albums, especially "Love Me Tomorrow" and "Stay the Night".
