Has anyone seen this story about the Houston Chronicle, which basically took a story about the the death of a marine, and spun the story to give it an anti-war feel in print. Basically you had a newspaper using the dead for political gain.
I think using the dead for political gain is wrong, but then I felt the family turned right around and did the same exact thing when they went onto the airwaves complaining about the story. You had the father and daughter (who I've seen appear on TV twice now) saying they should rewrite the story and talk about how the sister supports the president and the war, and that the only way they can right this wrong is by adding more conservatives and Republican writers to the newspaper.
I then asked the question, "But aren't you now using the death of your son and brother for political gain to prop up the president?" They claimed they wanted the story to be about Leroy, yet when they came on television, all they spoke about was the president and support for the war, not their loved one.
What do you think of this situation? I think both the paper and the family are wrong for their actions. The paper apologized, but the family wants more as stated above.
Note: I don't really know where I can put this topic because this is the War on Terrorism thread, but I'm talking about the Iraq war.
