Iraqi Prison Photos Mar U.S. ImageQUOTE(from article)
LONDON (Reuters) - Photos of U.S. soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners drew international condemnation on Friday, prompting the stark conclusion that the U.S. campaign to win the hearts and minds of Iraqis is a lost cause.
QUOTE(from article)
The pictures showed U.S. troops smiling, posing, laughing or giving the thumbs-up sign as naked, male Iraqi prisoners were stacked in a pyramid or positioned to simulate sex acts with one another.
QUOTE(from article)
The publicity could not have been worse in the Arab world with the sexual humiliation depicted in the pictures particularly shocking.
"That really, really is the worst atrocity," Atwan said. "It affects the honor and pride of Muslim people. It is better to kill them than sexually abuse them."
This is some pretty grotesque stuff. And could be the final straw for american Credibility in either third world or Arabic Nations. I can honestly say I am appauled by the actions of these troops. It is immoral to abuse another human in that fashion. I had hoped we would have been an example to What good people are it. I guess we showed them that we are just as immoral as we think them.
Questions for Debate:
How do you think this is going to effect American Credibility in Arabic Nations?
Do you think this will effect our credibility in Third world Nations?
Do you think more Coalition countries might leave Iraq because of this?
